    Avant VHS question

Hi all - my 32" Avant (curved screen) VHS is not working - when I go to play a VHS all i get is a horizontal red line across the screen yet it will rewind the cassette via the buttons on the top of the TV. It will not respond to the remote at all but loads and ejects correctly. Any ideas.... Not a massive issue as don't use VHS often at all. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dave,

Try shutting off the power to the tv for a minute or so and then see if this doesnt help. This usually helps...

If not; you have to get an authorised Bang & Olufsen service center to come and exchange the VCR.

Hi Dave. Failing that, make sure that both ends of the scart lead are shoved firmly home.  Over time, they sometimes work lose, especially on a TV that moves every time you switch on and off.

    Re: Avant VHS question

I have a 32" VHS Avant that does not play the tape - a grey screen appears. The controls all work via the TV or the remote (eject, play, forward, stop etc etc) and it works fine on the input from a DVD or the TV via a SCART.  Does the last message imply that there is a scart connection for the internal VHS player that has come loose?

Any thoughts on what I need to look at would be gratefuly recveived.....

There is a very short SCART cable from the VHS box at the bottom to the Vtape SCART socket above, so this is what Andy is describing..

    Regards Keith....

Hi all - turning the power off to the TV for a minute or two sorted my problems out - VHS now functioning again. Thanks all.
