    BeoSound 5 and music loading

Perhaps a stupid question, but does somebody know how nusic will come in BeoSound 5 if there will be no CD player built in. Will it be loaded via USB key or via PC or how. What kind of format MP3? Will the quality of the sound be the same then with CDs?

    Hi,

i only know a few things about BeoSound 5 / BeoMaster 5 regarding transferring music.

The BeoConnect software can be used (Windows + Mac) to transfer music.

MPG4 being base on Quicktime, it might be possible to rename MPG4 .MOV as .MPG and get them to work.

Ignace... it seems you have access to a Beosound5 documentation... can you post more of it?

I'd love to see the manual or even a spec sheet.  That would clarify quite a lot of things, especially the manual.

It really looks like the Beomaster5 can be used on its own like the Beomedia1 could.

We have also learned which formats plays and that it does not play DRM files (no big surprise, but we now know for sure).

    Thanks Ignace.

According to what I see above, the BM5 will connect to a TV and photos can be viewed on the TV.  Interestingly, it looks like you can also transfer web bookmarks and surf to those websites on your TV via the BM5.

so... doesnt this beg a question...

Isnt it like another beomedia 1?? If we can use the TV, then TECHINCALLY, we wont need the BS5 right?

It would appear that way.  The BS5 would be used mostly for other zones away from the BM5.  What it does seem to indicate though is that if you want to use a BS5, you must have a BM5 as the BS5 will communicate with it (vs communicating directly with your computer to stream audio, etc).

i think its beomedia 1 with a snazzy interface on a 9" tft screen so you can see album art

shame they cannot update my beomedia 1 to show album art and i woudl be happy to keep that

Guys, i think the more I hear of the BM/S5 and then think Euro 5K, the more put off I am... i dunno... thanks ignace, very much for the manuals!

EDIT: Starting to think that the Apple TV is the better solution... everything SYNCs, they are so cheap that you can multiroom it by buying many of them... (you would need a TV in every other room to do it properly) and you get all the album work etc etc.

watch movies and save thousands towards a new pair of speakers perhaps?

I really think the BM5 is just a newer version of the BM1.

The PC inside has been update, possibly new audio formats and a few new menus.

When used through the TV it will be similar to the BM1, I imagine with a slightly improved interface.

as much as i would like to think otherwise, i really believe that this is going to be a rather deflating experience...
