please help - information button using BEO4?

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me what button(s) to press on the BEO4 to access the programme information option in Virgin Media's menu? It is highlighted as the white button on the TV but there is obviously no white button on the remote.

    Thanks

    Dan

Try GO + a number! Try 5 - that is what works for Sky! Let us know which works!

Dan which model box do you have, and what TV do you have it connected to?

    Hi Craig and Peter,

Thank you both for your replies. I tried 'go' and then every number and none of them brought up the information page. The cable box is by Pace Telewest Active Digital and it is connected to a Beovision 3.

    Thanks

Tricky! Just had a scan through all the boxes listed and their cards and they all use the four colour buttons and then use GO + a number. Did your dealer tell you that this box worked? Is there a model number on the back? Does it do anything with the remote at all?

I have looked at all the Pace STB's and they are basically the same in terms of commands used as below.

You do not say, but I am assuming that the Pace box is reacting to say number keys, if not, are you sure you have the IR blaster correctly positioned ?

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

Thanks to everyone for trying - so far no luck

Keith - I just checked the position of the IR receiver and the light flashes as expected on the Pace box when I use the remote i.e. press go and 1, and the menu does 'return'. However, if I press go and 5, the light flashes but nothing happens on the screen.

Craig / Peter - the model number is DI4000T

    Thanks again

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

    Dan,

I think we need to go back to basics here because this makes no sense. I have checked model number DI4000T and it is as previously stated. So, lets take a step back and ask a few questions which hopefully will point us to the problem:-

    1. What Beovision is the STB connected too ?
    2. Are you sure that the correct STB has been selected from the list in the Beovision STB list ?
    3. Can you confirm that the STB works perfectly with its own remote control ?
    4. When you have selected the STB as the source on the Beo4, if you then press MENU on the Beo4 do you see a list on the left of the screen something like the picture in my previous posting ?
    5. Has this ever worked or is this a new configuration ?

Lets see if we can draw some positive conclusions from your answers.

    Regards Keith....

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

    Hi Keith...

    1. What Beovision is the STB connected too?

     Beovision 3 32

    2. Are you sure that the correct STB has been selected from the list in the Beovision STB list ?

The connection  is to Pace ntl (as set up by the dealer) the actual model is Pace DI4000T which does not appear on the list (I just tried the other Pace models available but  with no luck).

    3. Can you confirm that the STB works perfectly with its own remote control ?

Yes (just tested it and the information comes up fine)

    4. When you have selected the STB as the source on the Beo4, if you then press MENU on the Beo4 do you see a list on the left of the screen something like the picture in my previous posting ?

    Yes, I get the following:

    red

    blue

    yellow

    green

    1 guide

    2 menu

    3 interactive

    4 internet

    5 browse

    6 email

    7 on demand

    8 audio

    5. Has this ever worked or is this a new configuration ?

Not as far as I can remember, I just subscribed to movies, so for the first time ever the info button would be useful

I have also just changed the batteires on my BEO4 just in case - but no luck.

Thanks for taking the time reply.

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

    Dan,

You said in response to my question

Are you sure that the correct STB has been selected from the list in the Beovision STB list ?

The connection  is to Pace ntl (as set up by the dealer) the actual model is Pace DI4000T

This may be the core of your problem because whilst your box appears to react to Beo4 commands, apparently Pace NTL and Pace DI4000T NTL IR codes are different. Also if the dealer set it up, I am assuming they tested it ? yes/no Also how long ago did the dealer set this up ?

Regardless of your answer the Beovision 3 does support the Pace DI4000T provided your STB controller has table version 3.90 installed.

Have a look on the back of the TV and you should see a very small stick on label, one showing the software version of the TV and the other for the STB.

    Regards Keith....

Of course there is a chance that the Beo4 just doesn't operate that button! If all the other buttons work, I am not that hopeful.

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

    Hiya,

I think Keith may be right as the commands listed follow what actually happens at the moment, but since the exact model does not appear it could also be that, these are the details...

    TV type is 8803

    SW is 8.40

    Item No is 1800881

    Thanks

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

Whilst your Beovision 3 is fairly new based on the serial number it is around 2003/04 you do not state the STB version number from the back of the TV.  So I am assuming the sticker is missing, which in turn makes me think that the STB controller was added after manufacture of the TV. Therefore the only way to determine the "Table Number" of the STB controller chip installed is to go into the service menu.

To go into the Service Menu, click MENU on the Beo4, then highlight SETUP in the menu and press GO. Now press 0 0 GO whilst in the setup menu. You will see a list and the top item is MONITOR INFORMATION click on this and on the right side of the screen a few lines down will be STB software version and Table version.

I expect you will have a table version around 3.81 which will be to early for your STB, please confirm readout from the Monitor Information

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

    Hi Keith,

Yes, you're right about the rear sticker, it just reads ACC:  STB

I followed your instructions and it reads:

    61 IC5 (STB-C) : SW 3.2
    61 IC5 (STB-C) : TABLE 2.1

So I assume I need to get in contact with my dealer to upgrade the software?

    Thanks for all your help.

Re: please help - information button using BEO4?

    Dan,

Well, the problem is that you only have table 2.1 and you will need 3.90 which supports Pace 4000 NTL and 4001 NTL

To upgrade the STB controller requires the changing of one plugin chip which would take your dealer no more than 10 minutes to put in.

Below is a picture of where the chip goes on the STB controller

    STB
