Beogram 3000 with Thorens TD 124 MKII - special version

This is my very rare and special version of Beogram 3000 - Thorens TD 124 MKII

So for the first time ever, you can see my really personal Beogram 3000 with Thorens TD 124 MKII and with one of the most rare B&O tone-arms in the world (I think) – the Bang & Olufsen 12” professional tone-arm and Bang & Olufsen Pickup SP12 Elliptical.

Very nice! Actually the prize for last years Beoworld Personality of the Year was an ST/P pick up arm. I had it mounted on a special plinth before it was presented to Lee. Both my 3000s (one Thorens and one Acoustical) have the normal ST/L arm. Not seen an ST/P  mounted on a 3000 before. Very nice! I didn't think the SP12 worked that well as it seems to weigh less than the SP8/9. I did fit one to my 3000 though but had to use a stylus balance to get the correct weight. I have got the SP/MMC converter and was thinking of a MMC20CL!

For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen..

    This is absolutely beautiful.

I'm sure that most SP styli are interchangeable. It would be interesting also to apply the "highest spec" stylus "can" to this special 12 inch arm - the SP14. I wonder if there would be even further sonic advantages.....?

    Cheers.

Actually the SP12 is the highest spec. The SP14 was a replacement for the SP6/7 and is the base stylus. The nomenclature of the range is rather complex and easy to confuse. I suppose the SP15 could be regarded as the best but that was really a MMC cartridge.

I must confess to being very sorry that i am not coming to struer mainly because I would love to meet Frede and see his workshop. I do hope I get the chance and might bring my 5000 series over for a service!

Wonderful turntable, Classic! Yes Yes Yes

Never seen with the ST/P tone-arm.

On which sound improvements do you have noticed this extra-long arm brings something

compared with its little brother ST/L.

Could we hope a larger photo to fully enjoy this rare beauty? Smile

Thank you very much in advance.

Would you consider sending Lee a picture of this to add to the Product pages?
