    X Active Speaker Kit problem

I have a pair of belolabs connected to a an Extra Active Speaker in a link room. Now when I put on some music both speakers hum some noice that is coupled to the music. If volume goes up, the hum goes up as well and vis versa.

But when I connect the beolabs directly to Beo TV everything sounds well. So I suspect powerlink sockets in the extra active speaker kit are adding extra noice.

Anybody experienced this before ? please advise.

Check the connections in the X-tra Active box. It sounds like you are amplifying interference - in particular try looking at the shield connection where it goes into the connection. Maybe try plugging the power brick into another socket further away from the box as well. Get no hum with mine. Which speakers by the way? Beolab 3s are very sensitive!

Peter, I will try your suggestions. The speakers ar beolab 4500. They have been working fine with the kit without hum 10 years now.

Have you recently bought something electrical? Sounds like interference to me.

Re: X Active Speaker Kit problem

have'nt bought anaything electrical recently. I still have the problem.

In fact I have two X Active Kits and I have interchanged them and still notice the problem. So the problem doesn't seem to comme from the connections. Now when I connect an MX4002 to the kit using the 7pin cable and then I connect the beolab 4500 to the TV powerlink sockets, the sound is clear as it should be. This suggests the MCL cable from the BM7000 down to the kit has no problem.

I only get the hum noice when I connect the speakers to the powerlink of the kit.  Now as I am writing this post, I am thinking the only common situation  is that I am using the same eclectrical block to power the kit. I will try to change it. Strange !!

Goood news. I swapped the power supply of the kit. And sound is now OK. Problem resolved.
