You can buy an equivalent model from Soundsmith but they are pricey. Ebay is a source but the quality is very variable.

I have been looking for a while! Good quality cartridges are rare and getting more sought after, and are fetching some very fancy prices on ebay.

If you do find a cost-effective soure I would like to know about it too!

It is always going to be a bit of a lottery buying these old B&O cartridges (or new old stock ones) from any source these days. It is well documented that the suspension is unreliable after such a long time whether used or not. The only real way to ensure you are getting a reliable cartridge is to buy from Soundsmith I'm afraid - but they are worth the moneyMusic

There is one on eBay here in Australia but he's selling it along with a Beocenter 4600.

I was moderately interested in the stylus myself but wasn't sure if the MMC20S was interchangeable with the specified MMC3000 for my old faithful BeoGram 1102.  Beoworld refers to them being "related products" but no indication if I could use the MMC20S in my unit

    The following cartridges are interchangeable:

MMC3000,4000,5000,6000,20S,20E,20EN,20CL and SP15. Obviously some are better than others! The MMC3000,4000,5000,6000 and SP15 will be very old by now.

    thank you Peter

Now the usual anguish about whether to buy at auction sight unseen and taking the word of the vendor as to the stylus being in perfect condition.

I have noted the comments about stylus age failure and seen what Soundsmith have to say on the matter,  I was not aware of that phenomenum or them.  My first Beoworld entry and I'm already 3 times smarter than I was before!

Wish I still had my Beocenter4600. Looking at the BG1102 it looks almost identicle to the BG1500. This is what the turtable of the BC4600 is. The whole thing is a Beosystem 1500 in one unit.

There's also the MMC10E which is actually a MMC20E with a different number. I seem to remember something about it being released in the USA only for some strange reasonConfused Maybe someone can enlighten us all further on why this was?

    Re: Beogram 1500 stylus

Hi, I'm a first time poster. I have just acquired a Beogram 1500 and Beocenter 2000 for free.

The BG1500 is missing a needle so I'm also looking for a new stylus. Did you say some were interchangeable?

Other than the stylus I have an issue with the crome speed selector but the motor seem fine, although currently only running at 45.

The BC2000 record player works fine but the cassette deck doesn't. Not sure I'll bother fixing that though to be honest. Oh, for some reason I can't connect speakers to it either so I'm using the headphone socket, a splitter and an external amplifier which actually works well as a workaround :)

    Nimski,
    Welcome to Beoworld !

Sounds like you have the older version of Beogram 1500 with the round tonearm.
If that is indeed the case, you will need a cartridge of the SP type (rather than the MMC type).

The speed selector and fine adjustments will need cleaning and fresh lubrication.
