    Beovision 7 verses 9

My wife and I went TV shopping today. Anybody have any thoughts on the following:

Ignoring price, which would be a better choice, a new Beovision 7 1080P  or a Beovision 9 that has been on the dealer's floor for 3 months, has the 720 P screen and the Beomedia? The 9 is being offered with a discount due to it being a demo.

    Thanks for any thoughts

Can't really say till I have seen the BV7 Mk3 , but the BV9 would take quite a lot to beat it. I personally prefer plasma to LCD - I would suggest comparing them side by side.

Peter sure is right, you simply have to compare them and find out what suits you best. Another thing you should not forget is that the BV9 absolutely needs a seperate pair of speakers, the integrated speaker only being a mono speaker, whereas the BV7 with BL7-2 provides a pretty good sound by itself.

Thanks for the input. The speaker issue does not really matter between the two as the TV will be connected to a pair of Beolab 9s as fronts and Beolab 1s as rears.

Another question, any views or thoughts on the 9s angled stance,  i.e. having the picture not vertical as every other TV in the world?

    Thanks!

Hm,,, Thats a tricky question?? Confused

Bv7 LCD 1080p BS3 the new "Beovision Avant" and a very nice interior detail for your home.....: check

Bv9 Plasma 720p And also great impact in your living room, but not quite so good picture i think after comparing these two.

Hm, hm... My decision must be in a slightly favor for the BV9 i think... ?Confused?

But i now that you and your wife likes the BV7 , so suprise us with your decision mate ;)

I have not spent much time watching one - only in a showroom when it was released - but the angled screen works well. It had no effect on my viewing pleasure and makes the whole set resemble the picture frame it is supposed to. The only problem I have with it is the size - just too big for me.

I am interested as I am building a new house. Met my B&O dealer at my new place to plan the AV system. In my living room I was planning a BV7-40, but was thinking on maybe finding an HD BV9 at a nice discount. My dealer has one still in the showroom (last one)!

    Re: Beovision 7 verses 9

Just looking (Smile) at the screens, the BeoVision 9 for the movie and TV lover - the BeoVision 7 for those that love games and have their PC hooked up to it.

From a design point of view: If placed against a (large) wall, BeoVision 9 any day - but if the telly is up against a window/glass door the 7 would be my pick. Just look in the catalogue, too: B&O love to place the 7-series in front of something else than a white wall, it shows the "lightness" of the product.

But the BV9 can hide your BeoMedia, STB and the BeoCenter 2 connection panel without the use of a dedicated cabinet due to the huge front. This is a big plus: having a big wall with a pair of BL5's, a BV9 and the BC2 on the floor stand is a very clean look. Replace the BV9 with a BV7 and the new cabinet... not so chic in my book.

Not withstanding the different technologies there is a very big difference in screen sizes which if you like movies you simply have to have the bigger screen.

Plasma always produces an easy to watch picture of some depth- in fact a contrast ratio thats 4 times better than LCD and movement is less of a problem as well.

It depends what your watching as well. If its all HD but if mainly SD plasma all the way!

are you saying the dealer is giving a 60% discount an a BV9 that has been in his showroom for 3 months??? That is almost the price of a BV7-32! I would buy it! That really is a bargain!

Yes that is exactly what I am saying! Same dealer sold us a pair of Beolab 9s at a 40% discount that had been on the showroom floor for a month!

    Dear All:

At that discount, get the BV 9.  It is too big for me but if your viewing area can handle the size take it.

Notwithstanding the fact that the model has recently been superceded, with that kind of discount,it makes one wonder what the "mark up" is on a BV9.

Either enormous,or the dealer needs income quickly.

    Either way,snap it up quick!

I feel the same way too. I never heard/ read of a dealer offering such enormous discounts. IMO, 10% already is a big discount in B&O-terms, as in most cases you won't get any discount or max 5%. But as long as the products are ok, I would not mind.

BTW: could you tell us where your dealer is, may be it is worth a week-end trip to make some shopping...

For such a price I would get rid of any obstacle in my living room (chimney included) to make space for the BV9. Is such an excellent TV and at that price is a real bargain. Lucky guy!Yes - thumbs up

With a 60% discount on a BeoVision 9 I would make sure that the provided PIN code works before I paid...

    60%?!

    Whats the catch?

No, i would not be surprised on how big the mark up is.

Delivery and set up is not included...would have to pay for that. Other than that only catch is that it is 720P.

Same dealer has sold me Beolab 4000s at about 60% off and a pair of Beolab 9s that had been on display for a month at 40% off.

Any dealer with this kind of business talent will soon have a clearance sale IMHO.

I think absolutely the same. I bought a showroom BS3, and was happy to get 5% discount, and that was what I had hoped for. But if I found such a generous dealer, I would take advantage of it too...

    Re: Beovision 7 verses 9

I suppose you are talking about new stuff. But I do agree that 40 to 60 % discount for a couple of months old display items is a bargain.

What do you all think or have experienced in terms of discount for display items? Interesting for me as I am planning my new AV system. BV7-40 on motorized stand is nice, but with a good discount for a BV9, I would probably spend the couple of thousands more to get it as I do really love it!

     Thanks
