    Beovision MX4000 or MX4002

Can someone explain the difference between the MX4000 and the MX4002? The website says:

Beovision MX 4002 was the Beolink® variation of the MX 4000

Why would I choose one, rather than the other?

Main diff is age and the fact that you can remote control an Avant/DVD/VCR in the main room if the MX4002 is connected with the Avant through RF- out on the Avant.

You can still listen to music in the MX4000 if it is connected to a MCL2AV

So does that mean that the 4002 is superior to the 4000, or does the 4000 have an advantage in some other area?

Um... There were two questions in that sentence. Which one is "no"? Mark

There seems to be some confusion here!

The 4002 is a later version of the 4000. The difference is that the 4002 has MASTERLINK

Oh i was gonna say, go for the 4200, it has a flat screen was similar to the BeoVision 1 Smile

The 4200 has the Beovision 1 chassis with a smaller screen. It has a picture quality to die for. Much more expensive than 4000/4002

    Re: Beovision MX4000 or MX4002

Hi!MX 4002 was the Beolink Version of the MX 4000. It was designed as a Link-Room-TV. They have a Masterlink (ML) connection built in. The MX 4000 was designed as a Main-Room (but can`t work as a master like the Avant or AV9000)  or stand-alone TV. As an option you can fit it with an Satellite-modul! That`s not possible with the 4002!!! You can use the 4000 for a Link-Room, too. All you need is an Datalink-Masterlink converter.   So, if you are looking for a link-Tv choose the 4002. But if you need a satellite-modul it`s better to choose the 4000Sat with a converter! As a Main-Tv or stand-alone Version only a 4000 or 4200 (latest version of the 4000Series) will be the correct choise!GreetsChris

    Re: Beovision MX4000 or MX4002

Thank you each for your help. Two follow-on questions, though.

    1. Is there a list of these add-on modules, such as the satellite module, somewhere on the beoworld site? I would love to see a matrix of TV models vs modules, and details on the modules.
    2. Is the satellite module designed for reception of analogue or digital signals?

    Thank you,

    Mark

    Mark,

I think Beomaster really answered your first question, but I will state it in a different way:-

    1. The MX4000 can have an Beosat LM fitted and that is the only option as far as I am aware.
    2. The Beosat LM is for analogue reception.
    3. The MX4000 has datalink and the MX4002 has Masterlink

    Thank you Keith.

I'm afraid that I still have difficulty working out what can go into what. I guess this is a natural consequence of a supplier where we are supposed to rely on them to sort it out. This is fine for new equipment, but confusing when collecting electronic antiques.

    Mark,

As Graham said the MX4002 is a later product than the MX4000

The MX4002 has Masterlink meaning it is compatible (i.e. the same as Masterlink today) on current B&O products. Because it is a link product there was no requirement for such extras as a satellite module actually in the TV itself. If you wanted to view satellite on your MX4002 you would connect the MASTERLINK to a master video device such as an AVANT which could have a satellite module fitted in it and those satellite programmes can be called up in the on your MX4002 in the link room

    Regards Keith....

That's very clear now. Thank you, Keith. Mark

Yes, but they were sold side by side for approx eigth years - so a 2nd hand 4002 could in theory be up to eight years older than a 2nd hand 4000.
