BL3500 is indeed a speaker. And as with my passive amplifier with IR eye, you cannot put it on mode A.aux in sight of this beolink-eye (BL3500 has one to).

You have to go all the way to your system, and put the system over there in A.aux mode. Then automatically the BL3500 will give you the sound of the hifi, and thats A.aux

The clock just doesn't show at all under any setting.  Maybe the BeoSound 4 doesn't send the info?

The BL3500 sounds really good.  At least as good as the BeoSound Century it's replacing.  I got it for a steal because the metal is a little scratched up on the back and sides.  For that price I'd have taken it even if it looked like someone used it to jack their car up to change out the winter tires.  The grill covers are fine and you can't see the scratches since it's on top of my cabinet in my bedroom.  The sound is still good, just as good as the one my local handler has (with the old tweeters, like mine).

Not a silly question at all.  But yes, I did.  It doesn't, however, display all the time.  Only when I hit menu--> show clock.  Or whatever it's called.  That wouldn't matter though, would it? 

Provided the clock has been setup it should supply it to the slave devices on a polling basis.

I suggest, as a next step you power down both the Beosound 4 and the Beolab 3500 for a couple of minutes and then power them up again and the Masterlink will go through its power up handshaking protocol which includes setting the clock.

If you used the LCS9000 with MCL then you had the clock problem, but with software version 1.1 and using Masterlink the clock was displayed. If you recall when the LCS9000 first came out and I had one of the very first, it had a black plug over the Masterlink socket and was sold as a MCL compatible unit only.

In all cases I tend to suggest upgrading to version 2.0 to avoid any issues anyway.

Hope this helps, i have a BS4 with a BL3500 connected via masterlink, my 3500 dates from circa 2001 and i can control all inputs from the 3500, just set A Aux on my Beo 4 and yes i can select that input on the BL3500. Obviously some of the newer options don't display correctly on the 3500 cos they weren't around when my 3500 was made,  e.g if i select A Mem for the SD card the 3500 displays A Tape but plays the correct source i.e. the SD card.

N Music = A Tape 2.  N Radio = Phono.

The grat thing is i can have twol different sources playing cos i have a set of speakers connected to the BS4 see other posts on the subject.

Re the time display on the 3500? yes thats fine when set up on the BS4 as mentioned by Keith.

Thanks for the info, cutting the BS4 off the mains and then plugging it back in fixed the clock issue.  The A. Aux thing is sort of wacky.  I guess I'll just need to get use to it.  It's too bad that I can't activate A.Aux directly, regardless of what's on the BS4 since I have a MacMini that's always streaming music and I'd like to be able to activate that.  I think I'll take it in and get the software upgrade.  It's running 1.1 right now. 

Is there a way to set up devices so that the remote won't activate both?  As in, I still have my BeoSound Century and would also like to have it in my room but the remote changes the setting on that and my BL3500.  It would be cool to be able to change the volume or activate the CD of just one and not the other.

Maybe setting one item on option 4 would help. You then access it with Link + Source.

A test you can do now, without changing option setting, try Link+CD. And tell us if one of them, both of them or none of them is reacting.

You can power down everything on the link system by holding down the ST.BY button on any link product, even if something is being used independently in another room.
