    Some questions about Beocenter 1400

    Hello.

I bought a Beocenter 1400 (in almost perfect condition and just 25 euros!). It had some troubles with the switches at start (both channels not come up in FM section unless the button was pressed several times etc.) but I opened the case (not too easy, you know!) and used some contact cleaner and now the switches are working Ok. But there are still some more things that I wonder:

     1) The lamp of Stereo signal was not working and I took it out and it was broken to several pieces. What type of lamp is it and where I could get a new one? How can I took the whole lamp cover out (as there seems to be some pieces of glass left in)?

    2) When I switch to MW or LW, the tuning-lamp comes up as it should. But with FM area it stays black. Is that normal? I have a two-wire antenna attached and as the channels come up well I guess it not too weak signal-matter.

    3) When turning the built-in cassette deck on, a red light comes up. If I turn the recording on, there is no level indication (which I believe, should be done by some lamp). Possibly just the lamp should be replaced?

In the case of the lamps, I would be pleased to hear from where they could be bought. I can pay with PayPal, so that's not a problem.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Re: Some questions about Beocenter 1400

    Some update to the situation:

I tested the BC1400 more yesterday and it seems that the only problem with the absence of tuning lights in the FM area is the broken stereo-light.

As I  took the one of the two tuning lights and put it in the stereo-light socket, it worked with the radio, and the other tuning light also.

So I guess the problem is only the broken/missing lamp. Is there anybody who could sell me some new lamps for this? I would need the FM-stereo lamp, as well the recorder's volume indicator lamp (one or two?). Are the all lamps the same type?

I also noted that connecting headphones does not mute the main speakers attached. Is that normal?

Re: Some questions about Beocenter 1400

The stereo lamp and the lamps in the tapedeck are the same.
The tuning lamps are of a different wattage.
I have both types in stock.

Regarding the muting of the speakers, it seems to depend on the version. Some mutes, others don't. Some have 1 pair of speaker outputs, others have two pairs, just like the Beomaster 901 receiver on which the Beocenter 1400 is based.

Thanks for this info. I sent you a PM about buying some lamps :)

Mine has one pair of speaker outputs. I tried again, and this time it muted the speakers correctly. I guess it was just jammed because some lack of use

Otherwise the machine is working beautifully, I've been using it today for some time (listening to the radio) and it really sounds great
