    Re: Your avatar

I had begun to post this subject into the thread named "Beogram 1602 problem" but this was too much OT to go on so I chose to dig up this old topic.
I just would like to know if you can guess where my avatar comes from? Wink

Is it from the sign outside the shops? I did have one but it went to Bellac and I think Steve sold it - with my permission. I don't suppose you bought it! Smile

    Re: Your avatar

Mine is of my first attempt at radio controlled yachting - the frenchies were aghast at my near enough is good enough attitude - hence the name of the boat

    Ca Suffira - That'll Do

Sails extremely well - knocks spots off the as per plan french boats and it still conforms to Class regulations!

Very nice = I always fancied one of those but by the time I was in the market, I didn't have the time! I now buy that sort of thing for my godson instead!

However my grandfather and I used to sail non remote control boats on a large lake when I was small. This involved quite a bit of walking and sometimes a bit of wading but we enjoyed it. These were the boats we used - the one with the red sails is over 100 years old.

I do also have a steam driven copper hulled boat which again is not remote control, though it would be relatively easy to control it. It is about 5 foot long and extremely heavy though!

    Re: Your avatar

Peter I also had a yacht similar to the right hand model when I was a sprog(about 2 years ago!) - Used to sail it on a purpose built lake(I think ) at Fleetwood again lots of walking but no wading as Interenational/Nation events were and in fact still are held there.

In those long gone days steering was by vane - needed to be set up spotn on or very problematic!

    Re: Your avatar

Being interested in anything to do with space, I spent ages "photo shopping" a Beo4 into the cargo bay of the space shuttle. Unfortunately I didn't realise that the avatar would be so small it makes it almost impossible to make it out.

Well it killed an hour doing it and I was pleased with the full size photo.

This is the B&O sign that I bought from Steve in Bellac and I am very proud to know that it has been yours... I sent you a PM in your inbox.

    Re: Your avatar

Mine is of a Beoworld mug. These mugs are fantastic quality and give almost as much pleasure as using B&O equipment! When Lee saw it he emailed me saying he thought it was genius and he was miffed he hadn't thought of it first Laughing

Is it me or am I missing something.......most people's avatars are as they describe but some aren't - for e.g.

Puncher - Classic keyboards - I remember this from some time ago, but for ages it's been a bloke sitting on the loo!

    Beoperson - An Audi A8 amp....I can see a Beosystem 5000

Craig - Motorbike - remember that one....it's now Stig

Tom - from behind with Tiba.......I can see you from the front with green background

Is it settings on my computer or should I contact Mulder & Scully....Confused

    Cheers

    nigel,

when a user changes their avatar... all previous threads are updated also, leaving no history!

mine (current one) was just discussed in last week's wednesday thread...

it is a rendering of beryllium oxide, molecular formula: BeO

coincidentally enough, beryllium was used in earlier beo cartridges!

...and no, i am not a chemist -just a trickster!

This is my second avatar. My first one was also an eye, but this one is better looking. I can't think of no particular reason why I choose it, though...

My first avatar is up and running.

The photo of this young puppy were taken in september 1993. The legs to the right is my mother.

Of all the dogs the family had during my lifetime this poodle I still miss. He was king size a few months later.

At that point in time we have had him for a few days or something so his about 13 weeks old.

    Re: Your avatar

I find it funny that this thread came up again, after such a long time. And what is even more funny, is that most people have changed their Avatar in the meantime.

You are right, Nigel. My avatar shows me from the front, without any instrument. The picture was taken by my brother in Luxembourg. I took me and Sabrina to Old-Luxembourg to try out his new camera and made some 400 pictures of us within 2 hours.

Is it a floor stand taken from the bottom looking up? Perhaps the motorised stand for a BV7? Also looks like the stand that holds a BeoSound 2300/2500/3000.

    Simon.
