Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
Mr Andersson is completely correct. There is however the prospect of 3rd party IR control in the future. The S/W I saw has 3 tabs to choose from: BeoIR, 3PartyIR,Delay. The BeoIR and Delay are both active but the 3PartyIR is not at present. It would suggest developments to come.

100% correct Peter, the beo5 hardware is "IR full range" capable, but the software and the IR codes are not yet ready at present (and I'll not hold my breath)

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
eduard: ....mr anders(son): Santiago: Hi ....mr anders(son), Do you can set LC2 Lights in the beo5 main room screen beside the A/V sources? Thanks.
yes
Okay Anders help me out here! With the beo-4 you can controle the light... As I am having 8 lc-2 I nuber them..... yeap, for 1 to 8 Beo-4, you need to press..light, list (press number of light) and then go. With this Beo-5 thing I can not get it work like I want it..... how do you use it with the light and how do you get one light softer ore brighter....so that the other do not get on/off ore what ever....
Like this: Press light - arrow on right top - and then the nr of your lamp - then you can press on and off or arrow up and down on hard keys. Then it pilot only the LC2 that you have selected. And ofcourse this can be done if you make a macro; Lamp1 etc

According to the specs on B&O website, some 3rd party protocols seems to be supported, but the Beo5 does not transmit IR in the feq needed for most 3rd party products without additional hardware - it only supports 455khz and 2080khz. you can still use a lintronic box to convert as with beo4. http://www.bang-olufsen.com/page.asp?id=373&productid=365

The hardware supports all frequencies, not the software... not yet...

Not ever... if I was Mr. B&O. Why would I kill my own market?

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
I got an email from my dealer, and he said it was £300 for the handset & charger, dunno if this was a special cause I recently bought a BV7, even so I thought it was pretty good. So I may have to go and take it for a test drive soon JoC

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
I've got a question and hope that the Beo5 specialists (Anders, Ed,...) can help: how do I get this lovely colored channel logos?
Thanks, Marcus

At the time of set up. You can choose from logos for TV channels and radio stations from a very large library. You also get the option of using free text and choosing the colours there as well. Each button can be assigned either a logo or text as well as the IR code or sub-menu code. This does require the software so make a list of what you want before going to get it set up.

I think that should be 455 kHz, and 20 to 80 kHz. Most other remotes are 36 (RC-5,6), 38 (most others), 40 (Sony), or 56 (RCA) kHz.

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
After moving the charger from place to place in my livingroom without being really happy, I was wondering if anyone knows if there will be a wall charger available in future? Marcus

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
Hi Eduard,
that sounds promissing....
Concerning the stand, in my opinion it is ok in black, because of the overall looks: black display frame, aluminum ball, black stand. The only thing that could be improved is the weight, it's a bit light.
Can you change the speaker settings in audio mode? The word "speaker" is written in light grey and can't be selected. What has to be changed?
Thanks, Marcus

I was wondering if I can ask a question here: Can I supply the graphic icons to the dealer, because I noticed (when I was playing with a demo unit yesterday) on his when he pressed the CD button (for the BeoSound9000) he had the words "Disc1" to "Disc6". I would like to display 6 graphics of plain CDs with numbers 1 through 6, if so is there a limit on the format (jpeg, bmp etc) and size? Thanks, JoC

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
Need to be BMP files of less than 100 pixels square. If you make the ones you want and then put them on a memory stick, he should be able to import them to the Beo5. It is best if the background is black.
