    Beocord 7000 -- cassette stuck

I went to play the BC 7000 the other day.  Pressing the "play" button on the front of the unit resulted in a double click where only a single click is usually heard.  It appears that the heads have engaged the cassette tape but won't play, rewind or fast forward.  I have tried unplugging the unit from the mains/electrical outlet to no avail.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Worn belts. Depending on the version of tapedeck used in your Beocord I may have a new set in stock.

    Hi, Dillen.

Thank you.  Please give me a day or two to look up the serial number and type number.  I will then send you a PM.

    Again, thanks.

That won't do any good, I'm afraid.

I am not at home at the moment, I will PM you details to look for as soon as possible, which probably means thursday.

Re: Beocord 7000 -- cassette stuck

    Hi Martin,

I just aquired a Beosystem 7000 that was supposed to be in perfect condition. (demo unit from a shop)

Everything is fine except for the Beocord. In one direction it's fine, when I chnage the play direction the sound is OK but there is a clicking noise coming from the deck.

Do you have any ideas as to what this could be?

Re: Beocord 7000 -- cassette stuck

There are some tiny brake arms that grips into teeth at the circumference of the reels base.
If one gets too close it will "ride" on the top of the teeth, producing a clicking sound.
It will eventually grip into a tooth and block the tape travel.
You need to dismount the deck and take it apart to see what I mean.

Beocord 7000 - plays only for one second

    Hi Martin,

    I have similar problem - I purchased a Beosystem 7000 on the e-bay.

On last Monday, when I picked up personally the system from the seller the Beocord 7000 was working fine.

At home it was able to play in any direction and rewind only for one-two seconds and then stops automatically. Fast forward works eventually.

Could it be a belt problem or something else ? Maybe something could happened during the travel? I carried it as hand luggage and of course with the four plastic fixation screws. Thanks in advance !

It could be the above mentioned brakes and it could be the belts.
It could also be other things, it's always hard to diagnose without hands-on.

Beocord 7000 plays only for one second - broken wire

    Hi Martin,

Yesterday evening I disassembled the Beocord. Fortunately almost immediately I found a broken wire on an open PCB on the bottom of the drawer. It was the lower red wire on the attached picture.

After I soldered it back the fast forward, rewind and playing in reverse direction was fine. Then I checked the whole winding mechanics - the forward direction rubber roller assembly was loosen ( fortunately not broken Smile ). I mounted it back ( at first I missed the lower tiny spring... ) and then the unit was working fine !

I would not believe that this unit is so sensitive to transportation. It happened despite I took it as hand luggage wrapped in bubble foam to avoid the shocks...

    Tibor,

    Well done !

Noone knows if this is the first time it travelled, it may not have been packed and transported this careful previously.

Re: Beocord 7000 plays only for one second - broken wire

    Hi Martin,

The life is not so easy... Mechanically it is fine. But yesterday I connected it to the BeoMaster 7000 and recognized that the left channel is deaf [:-(]

At the weekend I have to trace the audio signal...

Don't forget to check inside the DIN plug for lose wires.

    Thanks for the advice !

It seems you won [:-)] There is a broken wire inside the DIN plug. I will solder and check it tomorrow.

It is clearly visible on the cable's plug fixation that a previous user pulled out the plug from the BeoMaster's socket taking the cable, not the plug [:-(]

Re: Beocord 7000 -- cassette stuck

Hello, I/m Gabi from Romania and I also purchaised a Beocord 7000. The defects are similar to Wings. I've opened the deck and reachead the mechanics. I would love, if possible, to have an mechanics manual in order to see any potential problems. Till now, i presume that the belts are very old and that's why no answer when a cassette is inserted. Can anyone help me with this document? Or some details about the belts? Specially the bigget one which is old. Sorry about my English and I hope I've been clear enough. If you find necessary I'll post some pictures next days. Thank you!
