Here's a photoshopped version of the Serenata image with what the phone might look like closed, off it's charger - and the right way up?

andy, BO = body odor. I don't think the poster was disparaging B&O owners.

    iPhone dimensions 115 x 61 x 11.6mm
    serenata dimensions 109.5 x 63 x 19.7 mm
All those people who grumbled that the iphone was too big will certainly not be able to fit this in their pocket.

    Re: First pictures Serenata

It looks OK I suppose but I find it very difficult to get excited about mobile phones. Big keys and an ability to be used to hammer nails into concrete are all I want from my mobile.

I may change my mind when I win one at the end of August thoughBig Smile

Hard to judge just from pictures where we do not even know if they are real.

But okay, from B&O i expect something special, in design and also in technics. The Serene was a decent approach, so we will see how this ideas will evolve. I am really wondering how it will be in the end

Well me too. From what is there, I hope the phone will have it's B&O touch when speaking about technical features and material.

I need to take this one in my hand in order to formulate my judgment.

    Let's see then.

Thanks by the way for posting this picture !

    No you're not Mobey! Smile

Let's face it : if there wasn't a "Bang & Olufsen" logo on it, would people here be this thrilled? I don't think so... The design is very common (people have already proved it by diggin' out a Nokia look alike), and I can't believe David Lewis is the designer of this mobile phone.

Whereas the Serene is clearly a breakthrough in mobile phone design, I don't see the Serenata following this path at all (as well as the BeoSound 6 by the way). Is B&O repeating itself with useless & crappy rebadged third part devices, like they did in early 90's? No - thumbs down (i.e. Philips mobile phone they had released under BeoCom 9800 ref).

    Re: First pictures Serenata

Is this what B&O is all about now??

Its so BIG for a start.

Where has the ultru chic design gone? - the feeling that one is holding something special?? at a time when so many manufacturers are comming out with super slim devices we are offered this alarmingly large device that is not particularly advanced technically and has put mobile phone design back four years.I dont think this product will do B&O any favours and more worryingly seems to concrete my opinion that B&O is becoming about badge and little else. I just hope that all wont go the way of the BV8- a b&o design only and the rest made in China for a LOW price- you can fool some of the people some of the time.

Well if it has HSDPA then I can finally justify buying one when it comes out Big Smile, as I use my current "Samsung" as my broadband connection!  Only worry is the battery life, as all Samsung mobiles are renowned for poor battery life as they give you two batteries with each new phone!

History - it's just one thing after another!

BV8, the socket unit for the BC2 and many more assemblies.

With the pricing policy and profit requirement of B&O it would seem that they will go the way of most and do more wholescale china made projects

    Silly question perhaps?
But where is the alphanumeric dial pad? On the reverse?
Could there be something 'interesting' in the way one works the machine?

    Re: First pictures Serenata

Isn´t BV8 made in what we used to call eastern europe? It´s no surprise and not news to me that parts are made in other countries or by other supliers. Theres also a lot of danish companies which deliver parts for Beo products. However quite a lot are made in Struer. The aluminium, producs like BV4, BV7, BV9, BL5  etc I have no problems with that. I know development are made in Struer and that these supliers have to deliver in quality standards set by Beo.

    Re: First pictures Serenata

First of all I like the design of Serene too but reading some of the replies I can´t help thinking a 1 year and half back. A lot of Beoworlders had the same opinion on Serene. I will not make a final judgement before seeing it in flesh. Like some of you I´ve also been thinking how Serenata is operated. The specs says touch sensible screen but do you think they mean the screen seen on the pic or do think it has another on the back side or.....
