If it is the same as mine, it is not the sensor but the fact the door opening mechanism doesn't engagage with the door. Does it click when you put you hand in front of it?

I think it is coming loose from the mounting. When you slide it manually when it hasn't opened, does it click at the end of the movement, and then will it work?

    Re: beosound century door problem

Ok now i have another problem?

i remove the speaker frets and cleaned as advised (yes they were a bit dusty)

now it has started playing up!

when i play a cd sometimes it will stop and the door will open the the cd clamper will lift up, then close again and repeats itself two or three times then the door will close 3/4 shut and thats it.

I then have to open the door myself and re-start the cd????

any ideas or should i let my local dealer have a look (B&O Yarm).

If so any idea on cost?

    thanks

    all

on the big gear wheel driving the door there is an optical censor, thats tells the uP what position the door and clamper are in, when there get to mush dust in it, it can no longer point out where it is. so a good claening of the gear wheel well help.

It is also possible to get a new modified gear wheel, where dust shouldn't be a problem

    Re: beosound century door problem

sorted the gear problem out! it was full of dust but the door still will not open so it looks like a trip to the dealer.

Is there anyway of testing the receiver L.E.D ?? as behind the right speaker next to the door there is a small black IR receiver and on the ciruct board there are two IR transmitters are these for the door??

    thanks so far

I think you should bring it to a shop, a last thing I can come up with is, did you clean the sensor on the Little pcb ontop of the gear wheel?

    Re: beosound century door problem

    Problem sorted!!!!

i took it to my local repair guy Martin Farrence (in Redcar) and he carried out some mod`s and its all working fine.

Somthing to do with the sensors (which he changed)

    and it only cost £65

    Kind Regards, Mark

    Re: beosound century door problem

    Hi!

Does someone know, what's the improvement with the sensors? I have a century, which sensor sometimes is very weak and sometimes working well. I recognize that one of the two led's is illuminated dark red and the other is not. Are these led's the same as in remote-controls?
