    BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

Is it possible to use the BeoLab 3500 with BeoLink 5000 or 7000 remote controllers two way ?

Next step: BV7-40 or BS3 with projector ?

As far as I know the 3500 is one way only.

According to this article http://www.beoworld.org/article_view.asp?id=63 the BeoLab 3500 is the only product still produced and able for two way communication...

Next step: BV7-40 or BS3 with projector ?

I don't understand that quote since the 3500 does not have an IR emitter according to the circuit diagram!

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

Could it mean that it is the only BeoLab Loudspeaker available with 2-way Masterlink communication?

I didn't write that.. honest!  I'm happy to change it.

I think it may have been read in the wrong pretext/context.
When describing some of the two way systems, it also mentions the speaker displays.
This is the thing that BL3500 is the last legacy of.
    I think.

That is a very good question Dario. I've heard colleagues on this forum rave on about two way communication and I still don't see a worthwhile benefit!

C'mon guys, sell it to me!!Confused

Principle of two way is excellent and genious. One way remotes are like command and control without control at all. Following this one way remotes are really remote commanders not controllers. With two way remotes you can check what the system is doing. Especially in programming this is  nice.  Two way  facilitates user interface remotely from the actual device.

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

Putting aside the technical merits of two way remotes, surely the reason for all this discussion is because many users previously had a facility they liked and it was taken away without any apparent good reason from a users viewpoint.

So, most technically focused B&O customers appear to like this facility, but what percentage of total B&O users actually agree ?

When most users press a button on their remote, they expect it to perform its function without having to check the feedback display. When for example I adjust the volume on my 6500 MCL it displays the volume increasing, but I can clearly hear it, so whats the need ?

So, in my view there is no need for two way remotes, its just that a lot of users like it, but I would suggest we are in the minority.

    Regards Keith....

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

I regularly use my Beo4 and WISH SO MUCH that the screen would tell me what number the volume is at, where in the menu i am, etc, without me having to get up from my comfortable chair, walk up to the main unit, and squint into the display.

I used to have an av reciever with 2 way remote operation, but it was terrible to use as i had to really aim it at the unit. Whereas B&O 2 way really makes things easy, due to not having to point the remote.

I wish B&O kept 2-way as an option with their equipment today! Sad

Tell me why I would want to know what the volume is set at? I use my ears. Now you may think this is weird or something but I can tell you that when SWMBO says it's too loud, it's too loud! Quoting a volume setting number is no defence!!

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

Agreed! I see two-way communication as more of a gadget than a real benefit, although with a system as advanced as the 7000, it may be a benefit, with being able to control lights and advanced timers etc...

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

Have to say that I think in a link room situation the two way remote is very usefull.

I have a link system in my bedroom. I have the MCP5500 there which means if I change radio stations skip cd tracks etc I can see what is happening on it´s display, which without it I´d just be guessing.

It also means I can set the timer function and have it confirmed.

BTW the MX3500 is shown as being two way ready does that mean it´s just a case of setting the options to two way?

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

With a system like BS3 controlling practically everything imaginable I would like to have two way remote to see what is happening. Now I need to power up the plasma display to change anything except volume.

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

This is what for I would like to use a Beolink 7000 - to have the information in the link room from the audio master in my hands.

I have a BeoLab 3500 in the link bedroom, which displays the information, but without glasses I can not see it...

Next step: BV7-40 or BS3 with projector ?

I think your only solution is laser eye surgery!

Laser eye surgery corrects issues with the retina, glasses merely re-focus the light when presbyopia becomes an issue (or the lens focuses incorrectly for some other reason).

You can also correct the conjunctiva to refocus, like with glasses or lenses.

I'm not medically qualified but I could swear this talks about re-shaping the cornea to re focus the light on the retina

or should I get new glasses?

Re: BeoLab 3500 - is it two-way remote ready ?

I don't really know why the subject turned into laser eye surgery and I don't know if the language thermonology is some trick, but a very common laser surgery to correct eye sight, is done to the cornea, and done in such a way that the cornea bends the rays in another fashion than before (the cornea is responsible for the most bending of the rays).

I have just done it, and it has certainly nothing to do with the retina.

Yes, lol as you have posted, it helps to re focus light through the cornea onto the retina. The retina isn't altered by the surgery - What the retina recieves is affected. What, in Alex's post is wrong? Maybe it's the wording, or are you trying to pick an argument joeyboygolf?
