Re: Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Beoworld I go! Photo's by Andy T.

By 10.00 I managed to emerge from my room. Breakfast finished at 9 o'clock so I knew I'd missed it even though I'd already paid for it yesterday afternoon but I was hoping I might at least get a glass of orange juice or coffee.
I walked passed reception on my way out for a cigarette and there on the counter was a full English breakfast, cold and congealed. I gather that was supposed to be for me but it just turned my stomach and I nearly had to turn round and run to my room!
I went into the dining room where the landlady was cleaning tables and profusely apologised for my late emergence and asked her if there was any chance of a coffee. She looked at her watch and shook her head. "Sorry we've finished breakfast and there's no milk anyway"
I spotted the Orange juice and she conceded at least to that one. I threw it down my neck and went back to my room.
Now then, Where and when was I supposed to be meeting Lee? No idea!

    Poor me, never win owt!

Re: Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Beoworld I go! Photo's by Andy T.

I packed my bag and checked out of the hotel at 10.30 and headed round the corner to my car. Oh good, still in one piece so I rang Lee.
"Hi mate, I've already been down to Beoworld and collected your 7000 and it's here at lifestyle" said Lee so I told Ozzie where I wanted to go and within 8 minutes I was back outside Lifestyle. I was so worried that my ashen appearance and lack of a smile would let me down infront of Lee.
I entered the shop and there was Lee, sat on the sofa with a face like mine! Ick!Ick!
We decided it would not be prudent to take photo's looking like that and perhaps a better picture for the news article would be me at home next to my lovely system.
So, we loaded the system into the boot of my Corsa, still bubble-wrapped and unseen by me.

    Poor me, never win owt!

Re: Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Beoworld I go! Photo's by Andy T.

I bade farewell to my friend and set off home.
On the way home I said I'd pay a visit to my sister in Crewe. She had recently visited my aging parents in Oxford and had rescued some old family photo's.
No prizes for guessing which one is me!

Gosh, What time are you reading this in Adelaide? It's nearly 5 pm here.

Amongst the photo's and documents there was also a reel of cine film. I said I'd find a way to get that onto DVD but we'd need a projector.
Jane said "I have one under the stairs that I bought about fifteen years ago at a car boot sale for £3" Then she brought this out!

    Love you too Peter!Erm

Sorry it's a bit off topic but it was all part of my journey.
I got home on Monday morning and started emptying my car.
Clothes bag first then Beomaster 4000 then Stereomaster 610 and finally my 7000 system.
I laid them gently on my dining room table then went back to shut the boot.

    HORROR OF HORRORS, WHAT'S THIS?????

Re: Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Beoworld I go! Photo's by Andy T.

One by one I carried each of the four components into the lounge and carefuly cut away the bubble-wrap.
Beocord 7000 first. Looked all round it for a missing piece of white plastic. It's fine.
    Beogram CD7000 next......fine
    Beomaster 7000 next...... also fine
Oh no! Please, please don't let this piece of plastic have come off the beautiful Beogram 7000. This will obviously be on top and it will stick out like a sore thumb.
How will I be able to take a good photo of it?
How will I be able to show it off?
What will Lee and all the Beoworlders out there think?
Will Peter still lend the Beolink 7000 to me if he thinks that's the way I treat my equipment?
    Please, please....

    Poor me, never win owt!

Sad to see one of my favourite BeoMasters in such a condition! Worth working on though, beautiful when it's in good condition.

I've got 2 of those in the loft!!!

Re: Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Beoworld I go! Photo's by Andy T.

Gingerly I peeled off the bubble-wrap and slowly looked around this lovely record player.
    Heyup, no pieces missing!
Where the heck had this piece of white plastic come from? I spent ages scratching my head and  holding the piece of plastic up against various points on all four components. It was a perfect match both colour-wise and in thickness.
Shaking my head I went into my garage to get my magnetic roof sign to put in the now empty boot, ready for work tomorrow.

    Halleluyah!!!

    That's where it came from.

Feeling much lighter hearted I began to position the 7000 as I wanted it.
I took quite a long time over this procedure as I wanted it perfect. Everything plugged in and ready to go. I think I'll listen to Carlos Nunez on this cassette first, I haven't heard it for two years.
    Doesn't she look lovely!

Now then, a light tap on the lower left of the Beocord and

    B****cks!
    Transport screws!
Any way I got it all sorted and , in order to take a decent picture for Lee to add to the news section, I got out the brasso to clean the brass trivet on the hearth and here is the result.

I think we should all get an invite to Andy's house to listen to his new fangled system (and we'll all drink enough to make us all sick)

I look forward to seeing all the pictures (and reading your inane drivel (to quote a famous hairy Glaswegian))

I hope all attendees thoroughly enjoy themselves and (@Andy) practise makes perfect  - you can actually drink that much - it just takes perseverence.Wink

Smile Not fair!  Prize should be a white Beosystem 7000.  It is not easy to find you in the photo -- all those musical instruments, skirts, legs and white stockings look alike.  Laughing Stick out tongue
