    UK sourced TVs in Australia

    Hi everyone

Does anyone know if you can use a B&O tv originally bought in the UK...in Australia?  Am thinking of the beovison7 and 10 range.  Anyone in Oz done it?

    Thanks,

    Paul

I've been shipping TV's to Australia for 8 years now with not one reported problem if that helps!

Most of the modern TV's have everything pre-built into them anyway, so tuner changes can be made in the service menu.

Re: UK sourced TVs in Australia

Ermm.. I didn't actually mention LifeStyle AV.  I actually make an effort not to. Hmm

I had quite a few bits of B&O in my home before i even thought of launching a business.  In this time, when i wanted to sell my old MX's and the like, i advertised them on eBay - and shipped a few to Australia.  I had no problems at all, even back then.

As mentioned, aside from voltage issues (which come into play when shipping to the US and Japan in the main, who are 110v as opposed to much of the rest of the world who operate on 220-240v) there isn't much you can't change in the service menu of the modern sets.

However, I will now read and re-read all posts i make in case any dates of any kind could be misconstrued. I wholeheartedly apologise for any distress this may have caused to anyone reading my previous post..

I actually don't have a problem with Lee mentioning his business in threads.

After all, he is a paying sponsor of the site.

The same goes with Steve at Sounds Heavenly, STB, Hygge Living and the Beo5 Programming Service.

They all pay their way! Maybe the other B&O resellers who feel like they're getting a bad deal might like to sponsor as well??

Ok that's sounding good...so I buy in the UK from you say, it duly arrives in Oz...how do it know what to change in the menu?

Also what about digital tuners?  Are they built in or would I need to use a separate STB?  Am thinking of the BV10-40" or possibly the 32".

If it all gets too confusing to set up do you think a local tv/aerial tech person would be able to do it.  Are B&O any different in that regard?

    Thanks everyone,

    Paul

    Hi all,

I am thinking about buying a pre-owned Beosystem3 from UK to be used in Australia.  I wonder if there would be any issues.

From what I could gather, in this case a beosystem 3 - Australia and New Zealand specific model is type 9603 and UK specific is Type 9601.

    The Active CTV system in

    Type 9601 is 'I' only

    Type 9603 is 'B/G'

Can anyone shed light on what active CTV system does and how does the alphabetical designation differ between countries?

    Thanks

    All is revealed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast_television_systems

but not necessarily explained ... it certainly did my head in

and helps explain why Steve Jobs describe the television industry was "Balkanised"

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Hi Jonathan

I'm in Sydney.  It looks like it should work fine from what I've read above.  Have you done this yourself?

    Hi Paul,

I haven't, but the UK and Australia both use Pal so it should work fine!

Best of luck, go for it I say Yes - thumbs up
