    Terminal 3300 Battery Issue

I have a Beomaster 3300, Beocord 3300 and Beogram CD3300 systems that I reconditioned to like-new condition, but I have a small issue. It is not a huge problem, but terribly annoying. My Terminal 3300 remote works fine, but the 9-voly battery will only last about 3 weeks whether I use it or not. I use the system about 3 nights a week in my bedroom. I turn it on, maybe change the FM station once or twice, then I turn it off later all using the remote. I make sure the remote is upright with nothing sitting on the buttons. At first I thought it might be bad batteries, so I've tried different types, brands and even stores where they were purchased. I have ohmed out the battery connector and it seems fine, no short or anything. Is this normal for the Terminal 3300? Do I need to buy batteries by the case? Like I said, this is not a major issue, but after a hard day at work, ice and snow outside, I'm cozy and bundled up in my bed and I reach over for the remote to listen to some old Motown music as I drift off to sleep and the &$#%@ remote won't work!!!

It's not common that the battery only lasts for about 3 weeks. I have a Terminal 3300 and the battery lasts for months.
There must be something wrong with yours. Could it be that some of the buttons are 'hanging'..?

Is there any way to tell if a button(s) is hanging?

Point the front of your remote towards a digital camera and see if you can see a light. Digital camera's show infrared light as normal light. If a button is hanging the remote should give a continuous signal. To solve the problem you could also use a BeoLink 1000 to control your BeoSystem 3300.

    Re: Terminal 3300 Battery Issue

After your posting, I rushed into my bedroom with my camera and pointed it toward my remote, no light. Then I pushed a button on the remote, still no light. Needless to say, the battery was dead again. I replaced the battery and pushed a button and saw the light in my camera. When I wasn't pressing a button, there was no light. I guess there isn't a hanging button. I know I could use a Beolink 1000, but I kinda wanted to keep that retro-period look. Any other ideas?

I don't know how technical you are, but you could try to measure the current which the terminal is using when it is not in use.

    Re: Terminal 3300 Battery Issue

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Like I said before, no hanging buttons, but there is a constant 16-18 mA draw on the battery. This stays constant even when I press a button. It definitely explains the short battery life. I haven't been able to find any service info on the Terminal 3300(at least not in English). Any ideas?

It might be a contact on the PCB which is dirty. You could take the terminal apart and clean the contacts of the buttons. On the other hand, I saw a Terminal 3300 for sale here in the Netherlands. Maybe that could solve your problem!

    Re: Terminal 3300 Battery Issue

I've been looking all over for another Terminal 3300. I only see them when they are paired with a Beomaster 3300. I know a Beolink 1000 will work, but I wanted to keep the set complete. If you know of a Terminal 3300 for sale, let me know. It's got to be cheaper than buying a battery every 2 weeks. I'll try cleaning the board this weekend to see if that helps.
