What is the best system that B&O made if we are talking about there "staked" system?

Id say the 6500/7000! Beautiful design that didnt tke up a lot of room and seemed to appeal to a slightly younger crowd

BeoSound 9000, but if you mean only "stacked" systems, that would be the 7000 system.

There are a few opinions on that.

The Beosystem 5000 is the first stacked system.

Generally:

A CD-player with a very solid laser that is unlikely to fail (the CD50, also included in early Beosystem 5500 sets). Beogram CD5500/6500 and 7000 are also reliable performers.

An, In my opinion superior cassette deck. Much of the electronics comes from the Beocord 8004 and the mechanics from the Beocord 2000/3000. It is not equipped with the nice autoreverse and auto-dolby system but I would definately choose the Beocord 5000 among the others if I was allowed to have only one cassette deck.

The Beocord 5500/6500/7000 are very similar, with equally similar specs and functions. They are versatile and user-friendly, and they actually sound way better than expected. It is a bit difficult to adjust the levels correctly as the level meter only displays one channel, and is not reacting the way I would like it to though I have made many good recording on my Beocord 5500.

The Beomaster is a little different compared to it's later counterparts. A simpler remote system was equipped which was in many ways similar to the Beomaster 8000 remote system. The newer stacking Beomasters had the newer Beolink 1000-type codes and later PowerLink which increased versatility.

The Beogram record player was firstly the Beogram 5000, a radial tracking player deriving from the Beogram 1800-series. Later systems came with the Beogram 5005 and 5500 which are a newly developed generation of tangential trackers. Beogram 6500 and 7000 is exactly the same, the only difference was that the RIAA preamplifier was equipped in the record player instead of the earier standard of the RIAA equipped in the Beomaster.

There are also small differencies in how they look. The 5000 system is gray with satin matt aluminium strip. Standby LED's lights at equal luminance. The 5500 is available in white, and a special painted grey/black finish was made as a prototype (very very rare, but I know a Danish B&O collector who owns one). The 6500 was made in glossy black and so was the 7000.

Setting aside cool remotes and greater connectivity options, I would say anything WITH a CD50. It's a great CD player and the 5000 amp is better than the later series if using passive speakers. Also, get the tangential record decks - the radial one is poo, despite what you might hear to the contrary :P

Im pretty sure if the 5000 was launched in 2012 it would be a decent seller!!! timeless beauty!

A stack system will be the next thing I collect.  I am very interested in reading stack owners' opinions.

 

There is no best system.

Of the components:

The best amplifier is the 5000 - unless you have active speakers in which case it is the 7000.

The best CD player is the CD5500 (the CD50 is far too unreliable , and is simply too weird - a single channel DAC!?? - the fact that hardly two are the same design)

The best cassette player is the 5000 - unless you really want auto-reverse.

The best remote is the 7000 - as long as you have a Beomaster 6500 or 7000.

The best record player is the 5000 - best made and best sounding. The tangential ones are more convenient.

 

Of course the best stacking system really is the Beolab 5000 system of 1967!

And I think one of the best ways to position and display your component stack system is in the 2 + 2 configuration like so....

 

 

Instead of the turntable unit (I dont have any records), I have a 2nd CD unit plugged into the PHONO socket, so the system pictured above is a mish-mash of 6500/7000 units (2 of each).

I agree the BL7000 is the best remote, but I do like the wedge design and display read~out on the MCP6500 too

Was there ever a Beocord 3000???I think you mean the 3300

Btw. the later models of the Beocord 7000 had a different tape mechanism -i think it was a cheaper one (maybe from the Ouverture).
My experience is that the BC7000 i once had, didn't sound as good as my BC6500. Maybe it was worn - or out of adjustment.
I sold my (black) Beosystem 7000 a few years ago -which i regret now [:'(] I would surely like to have another system to put up next to my alu/black 6500 system. (I like your 2+2+2+2, Leslie)

You ain't haven seen nothing yet Steffen. My collection has come out of proportion so for this New Year my goal is selling (or collecting).......

I really makes me sad that this beautiful range is so much nicer than the B&O hifis of today - their range now is a bit of a mess and not very desireable!  These vintage systems are simply superb!

I agree!!! I have a System 6500, a System 4500 and a BeoCenter 9500 which i use regularly. Besides I have a System 5000.
I can't decide which is the best looking...love them all.
I haven't bought a B&O audio unit since the BeoSound 2300. As you say - the range today is a bit of a mess. As if they don't know which way to go with their design... Those who try to please everyone, might end up making no one happy... 

But...It seems they can capture the attention of the I-pod/pad/phone generation with the BS 8. Good luck with that.
Just a bit sad, that so many people today prefer to listen to MP3 files through earplugs and I-pod docks -instead of listening to a good audio system and some decent speakers.

I'm thrilled with my BS5000 since I have all passive speaker systems. I find the sound quality of the BM5000 to be very similar to my BeoCenter 3500. My preference is the 5000 due to the flexibility of datalink and the expadibility of the MCL82 links.
