BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
Hi,
I'm thinking of a BeoVision 10 in white but I saw that the cover looks dirty (round spots on the cover).
I noticed it in several shops. Is it something that appears with the time and can it be avoided?
I wouldn't like to buy an expensive TV if it looks that dirty after some months.
Thanks.

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
Hi,
Usually shops are located near quite a lot of traffic, and I noticed the very same with a BV10 in a Shopping Gallery here. The televisions in the shop (located deeper within the shopping gallery) did not have this problem, but the ones on display near the entrance had it.
It seems the magnets that hold the front-cloth in place are "traffic dust magnets", i.e. collect traffic pollution over time.
This shouldn't be a problem in an home environment, unless you keep windows open all the time and live in an area of heavy traffic. Plus regular cleaning with a vacuum cleaner, set to low power, will help keep the white cloth white.

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
I have a brand new one in white. The spots are present even from new, may get worse with time not sure. Pretty poor really, this should have been dealt with at production!!

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
This sounds quite strange to me. I will ask more information to my dealer the next time I will see him. I have a black one, but I planned to purchase a white one as well...

I don't think that you have chance to avoid it after a certain time!

no, it can't be that they let it pass the quality tests and didn't notice anything...

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
I was considering the white cloth when I bought my new link TV, a BV10-32, a few days ago. My dealer showed me the fabric from the demo model in the shop, which he had removed some time ago because of dust. He advised me not to take the white one. It`s not the magnets, it`s also at the speakers holes....(?!) I got the black ones, and I`m very happy with my new BV10-32.

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
It was an issue with the early models, since then the cloth type has been changed so there are no problems now. I have a white fret which is a year old now, shows no marks and looks fantastic. If you have a white fret showing magnets you can get a replacement if your tv is under warranty.

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
Not a fix for the actual source of the problem, but wouldn't a piece of white paper or tissue over the magnets help to mask this effect? Or how about painting the magnet surfaces?
Please feel free to shoot these ideas down in flames as I have not seen or experienced the problem other than the photos shown here.

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
This problem has been solved some months ago: the new covers come with "velcro" and not with magnets. So, all the BV10 served from september (i think) come with the new covers.
If somebody has this problem, you can order a new cover with a special kit as a spare part under guarantee conditions.

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
Hi Tod, I would think that the demo model had probably been on display since before the cover change. Every one of our white covers on display had that problem but now they have been replaced they seem fine. Mine's a 10-46 in my main living room, it has been used every day for a year and looks perfect. Really happy with it.

MartinW:
Very nice installation I must say. What type of wallbracket are you using? Not B&O I assume since you are able to swing the set out that far. Can you take a pic from the backside of the BV10?

Wow!!
Wonderful installation in a beautiful living room. Congratulation. I suppose the bracket is by STB, isn't?

Correct. What shocks me though is that my (and other) dealer has two old white frets on display and you can clearly see the magnets underneath. This would never have happened in an Apple store (as an example). Presentation is everything. I mentioned it to my dealer, but can you imagine the number of people who may have thought "you can see dirty marks under the speaker fret!" and not mentioned anything?
Why didn't B&O issue a writ to dealers informing them that they must remove the old fret?

Re: BeoVision 10 white speaker cover
Remember the silver Avant speaker fret?? You could clearly see the speakers behind it, this was never resolved to my knowledge!
