    Beosound 9000 clamper height adjustment

    Hi all,

After a new laser the BS9000 was working great but now i get a slight scraping on CDs 2 and 4. Don't want to leave it until it gets much worse so has anyone adjusted their clamper height and for a B&O DIY novice is it worth tackling or getting it sorted professionally? The system has been mounted vertically and never moved so all settings are correct.

Thanks all and Merry Christmas and a Very Happy and Healthy 2012 to all

    Dave

Have you checked the 2 adjustments at the back are set to the right position?

Hi Jason, yes all are ok and were checkedwhen i had my new laser fitted. The scraping has gradually come on over the past 6 months. Frustrating but not marking the CDs as yet so only just touching the tops of CDs 2 and 4.

Hi Jason, it was done by Kevin at East TV about 12 months ago, he quoted £70+VAT to come out to adjust the clamper which is a bit hefty at this time of year - do you know of anyone in Brum?

I've checked and put the adjustment arrows back to its vertical position but no change. Didn't want to try them in any other position as didn't want to cause any problems - can i try them in other positions even though its vertically mounted?

Re: Beosound 9000 clamper height adjustment

I have experienced the CD scraping sound as well. I tried an experiement and replaced all of the CDs in the player, and the scraping stopped. My guess is that if you leave the same CDs in the BS 9000 system for an extended period, the discs become slightly bowed or warped, and as a result, scrape against the clamping mechanism during movement.

I've replaced all my CDs as i thought that 2 had bowed or something similar but its any CDs in the 2 and 4 positions.

Re: Beosound 9000 clamper height adjustment

Hmm. That's strange. Maybe some kind of adjustment is needed, but I'm not sure why it would only affect numbers 2 and 4. Maybe the spring-loaded CD holders on 2 and 4 are sticking out too far, but I guess a simple adjustment to the clamper will correct it. If you get this done, please let us know how it works out. I might consider this solution as well.

Re: Beosound 9000 clamper height adjustment

The arrow adjusters under the machine will not help here. They simply bias the CD mech suspension to allow for the various orientation possibilities with different mounting options. I suggest that you return them to the recommended settings.

The clamper cover has sagged slightly so that it is no longer paralel to the bed of the machine. It needs lifting a fraction at the front.

There is an adjustment described in section 5-5 of the service manual and described as "adjustment of clamper arm".

There are two allen screws provided to facilitate the adjustment. Note that anti-clockwise adjustment will lift the front of the clamper arm. (0.5 of a turn will probably be sufficient)

    Regards Graham

Re: Beosound 9000 clamper height adjustment

Problem solved with some advice and guidance from Jason at Iconic-AV. I now have my BS9000 working as it should so a massive thanks to Jay and no doubt i'll be spending some money there in the near future - still got to convince the wife that Pentas look nice so i can have a pair again! My worst B&O decision ever - selling my MK2's a few years ago......

Thanks Jay - your a star mate. See you soon
