Can't play Cars2 BluRay on BeoVision 7-55 (now with fix)

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has had an issue trying to play Cars 2 on BluRay using a BeoVision 7-55?

Bought one copy from Amazon and it would not play. Bought another one from Tesco tonight and again it won't play.

I get to the menu where I choose English then all I get is just the Disney Castle screen and the moving water/refelction.
The counter goes up in mins but even after 5 mins nothing happens.

Both discs play on my Sony BluRay player so it can only be the BeoVision.

Anyone have any ideas? Firmware issue maybe? Doddy BluRay player? (Always have thought it was slow and pausing/playing is a total pain).

    Thanks
    Mark Smile

There is a software update to cure this problem that occurs with Disney Bluray discs. You local dealer can do this for you by either burning the software upgrade to a disc or via an ethernet connection.

I'd stick with this player - fewer issues, support for decoding DTS HD etc. Anyway, as the posters say above, it's a sw issue which was updated recently. If you connect your BV7's ethernet port to a wired internet connection, you can update the sw yourself (which is the easiest and quickest approach).

Before the recent sw update, my BV7 Blu-ray play skipped scenes on some movies and wouldn't play others at all!

Re: Can't play Cars2 BluRay on BeoVision 7-55

    Hi,

    Thanks for the replies.
The Sony player is in my garage attached to a 50" Plasma Embarrassed (I'm into building race cars in my spare time so I have a full cinema set up in there, TV, BluRay, Surround sound ect - Odd I know!)

My cables are built into the wall but I will try swapping the one that goes to the Apple TV or X Box to see if that makes a difference.

I've hated the BluRay player since I bought it. The picture quality is fantastic but it is so slow nad the menu functions are pants with all of the remotes I have had.

I do already have an ethernet cable connected so I will try this option first (assuming my local store don't say they will "pop round" to fix it - as this is what usually happens everytime I have an issue Smile)

This issue was first reported by a Scottish Dealer, unfortunately it took a while for Struer to properly understand the problem. The original complaint merely said, -

    "BV7-55 BluRay disney play Disney"!

Re: Can't play Cars2 BluRay on BeoVision 7-55

With great thanks to my friendly B&O Guru I now have working Car 2 disc!

For those of you who have the same issue here is what you do:

How to update the Blu-ray player software
You can update the software in the Blu-ray player in two ways:

    1. Use a CD R/RW (The software is available from BeoWise – Software & Tools – Service Tool – Service Tool MK II).
    2. Download the software via Ethernet. Ethernet update is the easiest.

    1. CD update

    a. Burn the software on a disc using a standard burning program, for example the program available in Windows.
    b. The TV must be in standby, and there must be no disc in the loader.
    c. Press DVD to activate the Blu-ray player. Wait until the loader slides out. Place the CD in the loader and start playback.
    d. The player will now validate the software; this is informed on the screen. After validation, open the loader and remove the CD.
    e. Press GREEN on Beo5 to save the software. If you use a Beo4, press GREEN twice.
    f. The software is now saved and the screen will briefly be black until the player starts up again.

    2. Ethernet update

    a. Before you switch on the TV, insert an Ethernet cable into socket on the TV.
    b. The TV must be in standby, and there must be no disc in the loader.
    c. Press DVD, wait until NO DISC is displayed on the screen and make that sure the loader is closed.
    d. Press DVD setup on your Beo5 to enter the Set Up menu. If you use a Beo4, press YELLOW and 8 at the same time.
    e. Select ADVANCED and press GO.
    f. Select SOFTWARE UPDATE. The Blu-ray player now automatically searches for new software, and the new software will be displayed on the screen.
    g. Press GREEN on Beo5 to start the software update. If you use a Beo4, press GREEN twice.

Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

    Happy Days Smile
