Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away

    R.I.P David Lewis.

You've designed every piece of B&O I have (except the phones I guess). I love them all and they are all very importantant parts of my home.

Just before I went to bed last night (not knowing about this sad news) I passed by one of my BL8000 standing in the dark, reflecting the outside lights with a glowing red lamp, ready to take action. I gave the speaker a quick thought "it's just perfect, it's adding something extra to the room in a smooth way"

    Thank you!

Totally agree with you Daniel, The BL8000, she really is a beauty!  So is the BL6000.  That was a really creative time for David Lewis!  the 1990's Ouverture, BL6000&8000 AND Avant! Nice!!!

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away

He is mentioned on the Bang & Olufsen site now. Look here.

Really sad that he has passed away, he really knew how to design. I'm sitting and staring at my AV9000 - The most beautiful television ever designed and made IMO. The Beosystem AV9000 is my all time favorite system.

    Condolences to his family.

    Rest in peace David!

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away

Very sad news. I was privileged enough to interview him for the B&O magazine and website a few years back on the occasion of the Beolab 8000's 25th birthday and found him to be a warm, intelligent and witty character.

The world will be a slightly sadder, and definitely less stylish,  place without him.

David Lewis was an absolute genius, visually.  Some of the work I admired most never got built, unfortunately.  He could ferret out the visual essence of something better than anyone else I've encountered.  I feel absolutely honored to have had some small connerction with him through our ALT work.  Here's a shot taken of us at Quistrup, pleasantly knackered, during the Audi A8 Advanced Audio System rollout in 2005.  We would argue about who gave the engineers more headaches!

    Kyrie eleison.

David was a true genius, a man who many of us in the industry have looked up to and admired for his decades of inspirational work.  I think his ideas have shaped Bang & Olufsen more than those of any other individual.  My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

There is an obituary page on the B&O website.

    http://www.bang-olufsen.com/david-lewis-obituary

Doesn't seem to be functioning properly at the moment (image only). Strange thing is that when I went to bang-olufsen.com I first got a re-direct to some strange site with .ru in the webpage name: I quickly closed it (before any content came up): it went to B&O OK on the second attempt and hasn't happened again. Makes me wonder whether they've been maliciously hacked.
