Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away
He designed many of my least favourite B&O pieces -
but equally many of the absolute highlights. It's a remarkable life's
work to leave behind.
Wonder if we will ever see another head designer with such a long time commitment and a grasp of the whole process
as Jensen and Lewis... or will B&O consign individual projects to
different designers - or have the work done more anonymously by design
offices?

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away
Sad times indeed. Thoughts are with his family.
Sign of a good designer that he was still creating modern products up until very recently. He was involved with the BV10, BL11!

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away
R--I--P
It's a very sad news.
I had the opportunity to meet him a few times and have had some good times with him chatting about design but different things too (life, love, passion, politics, food...etc).
He was a very gentle and clever person.
I will keep the catalogues he signed for me very preciously.
I loved his work and unfortunatly there won't be anymore B&O stuffs designed by him...
Hope his designing studio will go on working with B&O with the same vision, credo and energy as when he was still alive.

RIP Mr. Lewis!
B&O should make a condolence note on their website to show the respect for one of their best designers.

That really is very very sad news
Chris.

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away
Really sad. He turned B&O around with the Ouverture as id always regarded it as a very old people's brand until that with its' funky blue speakers landed.
As usual B&O are so slow - their website doesn't even mention David passing or honour him, instead it's the self obsessed video by Tue.

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away
Emil:
Indeed very sad news. However, as mentioned above - is there any source for this? I cannot find any information about it. David Lewis or was born 1939 from what I know so still quite young) and I find it just terrible if us beoworlders would be responsible for spreading a false rumour. If it would prove to be incorrect it would naturally be really good news for us interested in B&O but still it would not feel very good to have contibuted to such rumours.
I had a look on his site earlier today. The story seems genuine.

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away
"Over the years at David Lewis Designers, Torsten Valeur has gradually worked more and more independently, from idea generation to design implementation. In 2007, he became partner of the company, and in his capacity as Head of David Lewis Designers Studio, Torsten Valeur will eventually be at the helm at David Lewis Designers, when David Lewis retires."

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away
Very sad. Some of his designs really did break through old concepts bringing new and fresh way of looking at and using products. Timeless
