    What a complete surprise. RIP.

    Very sad news, indeed.

He defined B&O. The designs were above brilliant as he sticked to his belives and he challenged the engineers in a way that helped defined what B&O is all about.

    Very Sad News.

I don't think he ever got the recognition he deserved for some of his work, seemingly overshadowed by JJ , unfairly in many ways.

So who on earth will take up the baton now ??

I hope and wish B&O can find someone to fill the empty space he has left and give us new and fresh designs.

His memorial is our memories, and his designs in our homes

    May he rest in peace

And his family be comforted by the recognition we give him and the gratitude we feel

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Re: Designer David Lewis has passed away

I don't know what to say, three weeks ago I bought my first new b&o product, a Beolab 11, designed by David Lewis - and now - he's dead. I have ever been a fan of the products he designed and also own some of them.

I will miss him and his designs. B&O looses a great designer.

Condolences to his family and the loved ones. RIP David.

Terrible loss for B&O and for the industrial design in general. for us who got engaged to the brand in the early 90's he has been always the reference. My condolences to his family and the whole B&O family.

I'm speachless. My design hero has passed away. As a long time collector of B&O I must say that every piece I have in my possesion reminds me of David's talent, skill and ever so deligent attention to detail and function. This is the saddest day in my life. I'm utterly shocked by this sad, sad news.

David, you left very big shoes to fill for whoever will decide to tread the path of yours.

I'm really disgusted that there is no credit or mention to David Lewis on the B&O website. If it wasn't for David Lewis B&O wouldn't be half the company it is.

I think the lack of this respect makes B&O come across as a very cold, inhumane company. I'm really quite shocked and disappointed! Let's be honest David Lewis was Bang&Olufsen for the past 30 or so years!!! Think of BeoLab 8000 stunning design and you've got David Lewis's vision to thank for that!

I was rather surprised to see that there was no mention of it on the B&O site as well. Perhaps David or his family requested that the news of his passing remain low profile. Apple featured Steve Jobs on its home page for days after his death to honor his memory.

Dealers have officially been informed this afternoon (European Time).

It has also been announced, that a reaction on facebook will happen
quickly - ? followed by one on the B&O home page ...

I agree B&O should do something on its site.

Steve Jobs was the founder of Apple, so a little different
