Help! Trying to connect my BS2300 with a BL2000

    Hello,

I recently purchased a Beolab 2000 which I wanted to connect to my Beosound 2300.

Obviously, the BS2300 do not have Masterlink so I also purchased a Beolink converter.

However, when I tried to connect it tonight, I was unable to get any sound to the Beolab 2000 and before I rule out the Beolink converter as faulty, I would like to get your opinion regarding the setup and if I have done something wrong.

First of all, some info about the Beolink converter:

    Type: 1611

    SW 1.3

As I have understood, this should be the model that is used to connect the Beosound 2300 to a Masterlink product.

The cables I have used is a Masterlink cable (obviously) and a Datalink cable from Soundsheavenly. I have connected the Datalink cable from the AUX socket on my BS2300 to the AUX socket on the converter.

Furthermore, when I plug in the converter, I cannot hear any sound of it turning on so I thought that could indicate it as faulty (but maybe that's normal).

    Would really appreciate your help!

    Best regards,

    Martin

Forgive the obvious question, have you checked that the BeoLab2000 is switched on? There is a mains on/off button on the back.

    Hello,

no problem - yes it is on (the red diode is lit)

However, the answer to why is it not working may be obvious - do I need to connect the BS2300 and Beolink with a Powerlink cable as well?

(Do not have one so I cannot test it)

You don't need a powerlink cable with this set up.

Switch everything off at the mains. Connect masterlink and datalink cables, then connect power to Audio system then the BeoLab2000 and finally BeoLink convertor. The last BeoLink convertor I installed didn't work straight away. I powered it up in this sequence and it started and has worked fine ever since.

If you are trying to operate it manually it should work.

If you are using a Beo4, the BeoLab2000 may have been previously option programmed. Are you familiar with how to option programme?

Amazing, followed Opman's advice and now everything is working.

    Thanks for the help!
