DVI port on Beovision 7-32 Mark 3

    Hello people,

I am trying very frustratingly to connect a HD source to the DVI port of my BV7 (I have a HDMI to DVI cable). Try as I might with all of the options (setting all connections to NONE bar AV1 which is set to 'PC', DVI-D etc.), I cannot produce anything more than a grey screen with either a PS3 or a Humax FoxSat HDR.

    Could somebody please enlighten me?

    Thanks!

    Jonathan

    Hi Fellas,

       In connections set; AV1  STB(DTV)

                                    AS   NONE

IR     ? depends if you are using one?

                                    HDTV    DVI-I

Then it will take you to the STB list, choose your box and that should be it. Of course you will need scart to AV1 for sound.

Hi, the other thing to check is what resolution your attached device is pushing out... anything higher than 720 and it's unlikely to be supported.

    Hi Jonnie,

Why do I have to tell it what STB to use? I basically just want to enable the HDMI -> DVI cable I've got plugged in so I can connect my PS3 or FreeSat box.

Both of these boxes are currently pushing out 1080p, I thought the BV7 would just downscale these to 720p.

Hi Jonathan, I'm not sure of the Beovision 7's ability to downscale, perhaps try setting the STB's to 720 to see if any picture is given at all.

    Regards,

I believe the HDMI source recogniser can be switched on/off in the service menu, unusual for this to be done but maybe worth checking. it is in the adjustment section.

    Interesting... will check it out.

There is far too much faffing about required and too many antiquated connectivity options on this TV. Who wants to swap it for their new BV10-46?

I am also interested in a swap of my BV7-32 MKII with a BV7-55. No extra charges hidden by me. And of course the shipping costs will be yours. Laughing

In Tv mode, MENU 0 0 GO takes you into the service menu. My mate had a look at his last night and couldn't find the relevant section though. Real odd one this!!

Ok tried that cannot find any ref to hdmi/dvi etc in service area!

tried it again with the 4  pole  and red/blue/green lead into av4 no joy - this really is strange, as as before the pc works fine on dvi socket - the box i'm trying to connect is a HD 500hd vs2

    And you have the connections set as;

                                    AV1  STB(DTV)

                                    AS   NONE

IR     ? depends if you are using one?

                                    HDTV    DVI-I

Still no luck for me either.

I have the STB set to 720p and connected to the DVI port and my connection settings for AV1 are:

Source: STB (V.AUX) (Humax PR HD1000)

    Audio socket: None

    IR Socket: None

    HDTV: DVI-I

I have the scart lead plugged in (which has worked to produce SD images/sound) and I'm getting nothing. I've reset the TV to 'default' (from the service menu) before doing this and I have no idea why this isn't working.

Any advice would be much appreciated - I'm about ready to give up!

Let's go back to the start - are you sure that it is a HD-ready MK3 version?
Earlier version did not have HDCP - the DVI could only be used for
"not copy protected" material eg pictures from your computer.

The 4 digit TYPE NUMBER (alternatively the serial number of your TV) would help to verify.

My guess is your Humax cannot output hdmi and scart at the same time. This is common with settop boxes.

Unplug the scart from your Humax (not from the BV7) and reset the Humax and see if you have a picture. Offcourse there is no sound now. If this is true, you must get your sound from your red and white RCA-sockets, and connect it with the RCA-sockets of AV4.

Re: DVI port on Beovision 7-32 Mark 3

Mine was supplied as HD ready, the info requested

    Model   9344

    Item 1828***

    S/n    21277***

Hope help arrives, I have achieved digital sound using an spdif lead but no picture the box apparently puts out 480(?) 576(?) and 1080

do i need to use AV1?, which lead do I use , an HDMI->dvi-i or the 4 core lead into the y-Pb-Pr?

I realize there is little adv with HD over SD at this size of screen but, I just fancied the challenge, what sort of pi**ock am I then?

Think nurse was correct, I need to wear the boxing gloves all the time!!

Ok, an excellent revelation has occurred this morning - the lead just wasn't quite pushed in firmly, yay HD picture!
