    Beogram 5500 problems

My friend just dug out his Beogram 5500, but there is no power in the machine.  I have checked and changed the 500ma fuse inside as i did on my Beogram 6500, but still nothing. Any help anyone?

If the fuses was OK check the if transformer has power in and out, and go from there.

Ok, an update, we bought a 2nd hand transformer(from a beogram4500) and fitted it today, all working fine( no beomaster so no output)  until i tried it this evening with my own beosystem 6500. No sound whatsoever, and i used my own mmc2 stlyus to try it....what now?

The Beogram 5500 has no RIAA pre amp and neither does the Beomaster 6500!

You will need a stand alone RIAA pre amp between the two units.

Blow me Graham, never considered this.!  so correct to assume that beomaster 5500 has an RIAA pre amp then?

Just reckecked the specs re. b/master 5500 versus B/master 6500 and both seem identical.??????????

    cheers Sandy.

Beomaster 5500 has built in RIAA to match Beogram 5500 which does not.

Beomaster 6500 does not have built in RIAA to match Beogram 6500 which does!
