Finally after weeks of "research"Smile I made my own glaspanel with all in working functionality (touch sensitivity and text).

Check my proto on the Beomaster 3500.

Very nice Leslie, you just need to improve contrast how above spraying the display windows with automotive stuff used to darken stoplights etc...

BTW how did you produce the illuminated text the best I came up with was to print onto ohp stuff but yours looks very professional!

    Olly.

    Re: I did it!

Well done again Leslie. Thanks for the photos as it's always great to see what some people such as yourself can achieve.

Please tell me though, what is the 'black stuff' you have used underneath the glass panel visible in the first two photos? I presume it's out of one of the small paint pots shown? If so what exactly is the stuff?

    Thanks and well done again.

    Re: I did it!

Great job Leslie!!! That looks amazing!  Well done!   The quality of the [panel on the pictures look very real and original. I am convinced you can replicate every glasspanel, lets say a BC9500.  I wonder how long it took to produce one panel.  It looks cool to make an Ipod version instead of a Tape2 on the panel

You keep amaze me everytime, your skill, devotion and dedication to restore every piece of B&O you lay your hands on.  Yes - thumbs up  Well done mate!!

    Re: I did it!

Lots of questions and positive remarks, thanks guys, makes me feel proud of what I'm doing.

I bought 10 blanc glaspanels cut in Beomasters specific size and they have been poly sanded (not sure if you call it that way in english). About 5 euro each (plain cut, not poly sanded).

One side has been sprayed with black laquer (rear side)

Laser engraved text in mirror on the rear side. Laser engraving on glas makes the engraving white. Brought these panels at Adelfi. Excellent workman ship done by these two brothers. Cost me 10 euro each.

Bought this stuff on Ebay which is called Carbon conducting paint. Great stuff and best practice is to use a brush. Paint this carbon on places where the touch areas takes place (on top of the black laquer). The upper row text must be covered with tape or better use stickers. I had them in the size of the text. Make it a lot easier since you dont wanna cut in the paint.

For coloring text use glas paint. White for the lower row and red and green for the upper row.

I still have to do 9, so will try to make a sort of workinstruction for those who are interested. As said many times before, pictures says more then al lot of bla bla bla!

Olly, that's a good idea. What kind of stuff is this "automotive" thing. Have you got a link?

The text has been laser engraved in mirror on the back. After that I used glass paint for emphasizing the text.

    Re: I did it!

Amazing! Really impressive! Great work, I only have one minor gripe: you should use Helvetica or Frutiger instead of Arial! :-) ...but apart from that, great work!

    Thanks Henrik,

You confirmed what someone else told me to do, and thats the Frutiger font.Left Hug

Where can I get that and how on earth did you knew it is ArialYes - thumbs up

Next panels (name it) will be done in Frutiger if I can get it! Thanks for the tip...

Hehe! Well, I'm a typography geek! :) When it comes to Arial vs Helvetica, the "R" ang the "G" is the most obvious difference. Unfortunately, Frutiger is not a free font so you'll have to but it unless someone is kind enough to lend it to you ;) I'm at the summerhouse at present and do not have access to my font collection.

Older B&O equipment (all 70's stuff and most of the 80's gear) used Helvetica, newer uses B&O's own variant of Frutiger.
