    Help with Beogram 3400 dustcover

I picked up a nice Beogram 3400 table the other day with the MMC 20EN cartridge. My first B&O and I like it. It works and sounds good too but I noticed right off something was amiss with the spring hinge for the dustcover. I probably should have never done this but I took it apart and found one of the 3 tabs was broken. The outer one nearest the tonearm. It looks like if I move the broken one to the center and have the two good ones on the outsides it may work. My biggest problem is re-assembly. Can it be done? Are there any instructions for this anywhere? The cover has to be put in its place with the tabs and the spring under tension and it seems very difficult.

Boy, that sounds just like the trouble I had with my spare RX 2.  Yes, it can be reassembled.  Yes, it's a pain.  Can you post pictures?  There's a trick to lining up the parts on the RX 2 that isn't exactly intuitive.  With a picture, I'd be able to tell if it's the same.

    Start at the center.
Let the spring ends float free and concentrate on the holders.
Finally lift the spring ends into their grooves in the lid.
If you need one of these, PM me.

To upload one pic to a reply, place you curser where you want the pic, pick, above the reply frame, OPTIONS, pick ADD/Update, in the pop up frame pick Browse, find the pick in your comp. click open, in the frame click save, go back to compose, the pick wil be uploaded when you post your reply.

Or like this if you want more pics in the same reply.

First go to your account, upper right corner, click signed in as, scroll down click "my files", down left you have browse and add file, on the right add folder, if you want to create diff. folders, enter folder name and click "add folder", open folder, now click "browse", in your computer find the pic you want to upload, click "open". Now click "add file", your pick will upload and show in the folder, next pic same.

to post a pic, open your new thread or reply to one, text your answer or opening remarks, click the film strip in the menu, click "browse",

Your files will show, click the folder with the pick, double click the pick, the pick will show where your curser was placed before you clicked the film strip.

Before uploading, edit your pics down to some 640 x 480 pixels, that will give you a faster upload and the pic will fit to a forum page.

Sorry, that is not the same as the multi-part pieces I encountered in the RX 2.  I won't be able to help.

    Good luck!

Re: Help with Beogram 3400 dustcover

    My first post here:

I have an RX that's I'm fixing, and it's missing both of the two outer tabs (see photo below) and their screws and washers.  Are they the same as the one in the center, which looks like the picture from the 3404 clip above (see second photo below).  Does anyone have these parts?

    Thanks!

Screws and washer are available at a good sorted hardware store, the tabs maybe from Martin, or buy a piece of Nylamid and make it yourself.

    And welcome to amazing Beoworld

Re: Help with Beogram 3400 dustcover

Thanks!  (I see you have 999 posts.  :))  The screws and washers ... I'm sure I could find something comparable at the hardware store, although I'd probably have to use a Nylock nut instead of a threaded insert.

I'm definitely up to carving a new set of pieces with my trusty Dremel tool, but I thought I'd ask around here first, mainly about the clips.

Oh, and when I reinstall the dust cover, should I follow the advice above, and attach the springs with the ends free,  install the cover with the center clip, then bend the springs down to go into the slots on the cover?

Re: Help with Beogram 3400 dustcover

Thanks to Martin I got the parts needed and it was not easy but I managed to get it back together and now enjoy my 3400 with a functional dustcover. I did let let the spring float free while focussing on the clips first. At one point I used a pair of pliers to hold the spring in position while tightening down on the outer clips.
