Hi,
I wonder whether anyone can help. I've just replaced an Overture with a Beocenter 2 in my setup which I option programmed to A.Opt 0 and V.Opt 0 on the basis that it is in the same room as my main system (Beosystem 3 with a couple of Beolab 8000s, 2 6000s and beolab 2, a Beomedia 1).I believe I have close to the latest Beosystem 3 software as it was updated about a year ago (10.x)
Setting up the BeoCenter as being active on the DVD button on the Beo4, the DVD works, but neither the CD or radio does in the main room, it doesn't even switch - it is as if the system doesn't even know I have a radio and CD in the room - although I can access both from my other link rooms (either from a 3500 or from an Avant or a couple of Beolink Passives).
I've reset the Beosystem 3 to factory settings a few times and still with no resolution. The Beosystem 3 reports it is in option 2 as it should be.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what this could be.
On another matter, I have the DVB module in the Beosystem 3, but after switching the DVB option off in the Beosystem 3, I can't programme the Sky box (connected by both HDMI and SCART) to work with the DTV button. The screen just goes blank when I select DTV. This didn't happen until I started reconfiguring things (and replacing the Overture doesn't change anything, so I believe the Beocenter is set up correctly)
Regards

Yes, ML is connected - that's why it works in the link rooms.
Things have changed now - I can now put the Sky box on DTV and it works fine - I suspect the valves or pixies or whatever in the Beosystem 3 needed to have some time to recognise that I'm not using the DVB board...
Still can't listen to the radio or CD in the mainroom though.

Ok.
ML isn't needed for controlling in the linkroom. These (DVD)instructions are send by the scartcable.
V-opt 0? Not needed I quess. If you having both in the same room, it's just V-opt2 sending for the BS3 (may also be received by the BC2, and A-opt 0 fot the BC2).
I should start by taking the power off for both the BS3 and BC2 for a minute. Reconnect the BC2 to the mains and at last the BS3.
Try then to manually press CD or Radio on the BC2. The BS3 should also respond to that.
Mayby try another scartcable. It's obvious a faulty communication or option setting.

I think ML is used for the link room control and audio. You're right that the DVD control is through the SCART cable - and that is working fine. Pressing DVD in the mainroom works OK. It just doesn't do anything when selecting DVD or CD.
I've tried what you suggest - but no difference - the DVD is still working, but nothing for CD or Radio. When pressing the buttons on the Beocenter 2, the function activates (the Radio starts up for example) but nothing is happening with the Beosystem 3 - it just doesn't switch to the new input.
DVD, CD and Radio work fine in link rooms!
With regard to the option settings, the Beosystem doesn't respond to the V.Opt command - though it is happily switching on the A.Opt command. I think the settings are fine and agree - V.Opt on the Beocenter 2 may not be needed anyway.

not sure how it is over the pond but in the US I believe (it's been a while since I was in deep with the BC2) you have to have a control IR cable connected to the IR in on both the BC2 and BS3 and labeled accorrdingly in the BS3. Then you will get your video commands transfered when you push the DVD button. ML will carry the audio commands for the BC2, just not the video commands....... I may be incorrect though, someone will chime in to put it to rest I'm sure :)

after re-reading the this subject I'm a bit confused about what it is happening? u can or can not control ur BC2 from remote via BS3? can u access audio commands via BS3 via remote? Can u not access the DVD input via BS3 when u use the control interface on the BC2 itself? Just a little confused :)

I cannot access the BC2 with the remote in the mainroom (where the BS3 is) for audio sources (DVD works OK) though accessing RADIO or CD or DVD from a link room works fine.
Using the close-up controls for audio on the BC2 activates the function but the BS3 does nothing - either continuing the playing source if switched on - or stays off if off.

Has your system been setup correct?
Does your BS3 has the setting under connections: DVD, then after go: B&O Beocenter mkI or II under available DVD-players?

Very odd if it is all OPT programmed correctly. Possibly a bad ML board in the BS3 (all though why would it pass the commands in link rooms?) if your running the newest software etc. and are 100% on your configuration settings then it would be wise to setup a service call..... of course do the B&O all time reset before you go that route (unplug everything for 5 minutes).

Yes, had (multiple) resets and everything. I guess a service call is in order here....

Carolpa:
if you put a CD in the BC2 and you give a DVD command to the BS3; what happens than?
The CD Plays - the screen still shows the DVD screen.

Carolpa:
how are the DVD Sound and the DVD detection in the Menu's set?
I really don't understand the question - which Menu? on the BC2?.
BTW, there is nothing wrong with the DVD - it is the radio and CD (Audio devices, not video) that isn't working

but it's the reason you should check your manual of the BC2; especially the part about the DVD
