I'm running my rec room audio (satelite tv, Cary CD player, DVD player) through an old AV7000. What pieces do I need to use a beolab 3500 as a center speaker controlled by my AV 7000? A beolink converter?

From what I remember, there is an independant company that,makes this possible. A bit of searching should uncover the company, I'll go have a look.

A topic that has been discussed here many times. Here is the link to the product that Evan is thinking about. They have been around for a while, but I can't remember any posting from a member who has tried this.

I can tell you that IMHO the BL3500 is completely inadequate as a center speaker, even with an AV7000. Again, it's just my opinion as a current BL3500 this is not the right speaker for the job. I love it as a link speaker, I think that the design is teriffic, and from a sound point of view adequate as a link.

I also owned an AV7000 (once upon a time) and I would think that it's propbably not worth investing a lot in keeping it alive. Might I suggest a descent pair of passive speakers for your center channel project?

BTW, Cary CD player... Wow.

Thanks for the info.  I'm sticking to 2 channel but will need something to use as a center instead of 1)my crappy tv speakers or 2)not using my 2 channel beolab 1 for the tv .  An inexpensive pair of passive speakers is probably a good suggestion. I liked the look and packaging of the beolab 3500 (slim and can be wall mounted) and since it won't function as a true "center" in a surround sound, it only needs to be better than my tv speakers.

For high performance surround listening, the 3500 is not ideal. But from what you illstrate, Henry, it sounds like a fine way to do things.
