    Beolink 5000 doesn't work anymore

    Hello

Today I wanted to use my Beolink 5000. As I put the batteries in the display only shows STD.BY and the rc won't react when i push any button. It won't send any commands to my Beosystem 7000 too!

What went wrong? Last time I used it the rc worked very well.

I am glad for your help.

    Noah

A longshot but maybe worth a try - have you checked whether your rc is set to two-way or one-way communication? During the last years of it's active life (screen only shows a few pixels nowadays) my Beolink 5000 could change from two-way to one-way without no particular reason. If you have had no batteries in for a while that could maybe trigger such a reaction.

Thank you for the hint. But sadly my Beolink 5000 does not react to any button of the keypad. The display shows all pixels (luckely ;-)) and  says only STD. BY. Nothing else! If I push CD, Radio, TV, etc non of my B&O equipment reacts, so the Beolink does not send a code. I think.

Try using a mobile phone lens/digital camera and look through it pushing the buttons of the remote. You will see it blink - if it works.

Then maybe playing with options, changing the mode of the Beolink etc. might help. Search the forum!

Is the display on all the time (and showing STD.BY)? It should go blank after few moments when idle. Could the stand-by button be stuck?

Yes. The display show all the time STD. BY.

I will check the stand-by button.

    It is otherway around.

Standard the BL5000 is 2-way, which can be set manually to one way. If a powerfaillure occurs, then the BL5000 falls automatically back to 2 way.

The BM7000/system 7000 handles 2 and 1 way without any problem.

Could indeed be one of the buttons which is stuck. Try the camera trick (optional: while inserting the batteries)

Unfortunately, the BL-5000 is a very fragile remote. Mine started having problems without any cause, so I got rid of it. I noticed a lot of others selling defective BeoLink 5000 remotes on eBay. Usually, the LCD pixels start going bad first, but I have not heard of the keypads being non-responsive. I miss the 2-way communication, but love the more hardy construction of the Beo 4.

My bad. Used to have a MX 7000 (one-way) and a BeoSystem 2500 (two-way) where I constantly had to change the one-wa/two-way option. Makes however sense when you say it since the BS2500 could handle booth communication types while the MX 7000 only could take one-way.

In any case - an interesting problem. Would be interesting to know about if ever solved, which I hope. It's indeed a very nice remote. Miss the two-way communication so I'll probably get me a Beo6 once they have rolled out the software update for BeoSound 5.

I think lausvi is right. Must be the STDBY button. Hide your BL5000, activate your BS7000 manually and get your BL5000. It should set the BS7000 to standby without pressing a button, because it sends a STDBY command all the time, which results in a STDBY SYSTEM command. I had a similiar problem with a BL1000 years ago. It was the VOLUME UP button, which can get dangerous - for the speakers....

Re: Beolink 5000 doesn't work anymore

    Hello guys

Nope. The 5000 sets the Beosystem 7000 not to stand-by when I put the batterie in! I don't thinit is the stuck stand-by button![:'(] But when I put the battteries in the Beolink sends a command but the Beomaster does not react.

So I have no idea what is wrong with that remote.Angry Makes my angry!!;-)

Start from the beginning. Set your BM7000 in option 1 (if that's the only set you have without connected to a Beovision etc)

So, take another remote (Beo4 eg), and set the BM7000 to A-OPT 1.

Ok, checked with a camera? Could be an instruction from the Beolink 5000 asking for status information from the BM7000.
