    Should I get a second hand DVD1?

My home-built HTPC hasn's been working properly lately, which isn't that much of a surprise, considering the shoddy build quality and the fact that it's six years old. Now, the kids obviously want to be able to watch their DVDs. I have a Beovision 6-26 as my main TV. Should I get a used DVD1 to connect to it?

I don't have the money to buy a Beocenter 2 or a Beovision 7, and building a new HTPC would take some time.

What do you think? I could get a DVD1 at a quite reasonable price (~£100).

I just sold one that I picked up as part of a package deal and I did try it out quickly. It seemed very nice to use and seeing as you can pick them up off eBay for £70 or so, a bargain. I'm sure it will pair with your BV26 very well.

    Hallå Fredrik!

Think we save the same DVD1. Normally they want more money for it, so this one had a nice price.

My KiSS DVD broke down so I just bought a new DVD (Sony). If i had seen the DVD1 for that price I would have bought it.

Go for it, you can even have a local pickup, no need for sending it by mail.

I did. I went there yesterday evening and bought it.

Turned out that the fellow who sold it was as big a B&O-geek as any of us. In his living room I saw a pair of Beolab 5000, a pair of Beolab 3000, a complete Beosystem 7000 with the Beolink 7000 on a floor stand, a Beolab 2, a Beovision 7-40 MkIII, a couple of ordinary Beo4 and a Beo4 Cinema. Oh, and he hooked up the DVD1 to a Beovision 4200 so I could try it. He also had a Beovision 1 in his bedroom. And in the kitchen there was a Beolit 700. He had more stuff in his office and his basement too..

Wow. Were the Beolab 5000 and  Beolab 3000 speakers being used with a BV7 for surround sound? I'd love to see that setup. Maybe you could get the seller to take a photo and post it on here.

Indeed they were! Accompanied by the Beolab 2 for a bit more oompf!

I think he's a member here, but not an active one, I'm afraid. I'll see what I can do.
