    BeoVision 4-85"

The 85" model of BV4 has been released, with 3D.

I like the wording "You’ve never felt a more immersive entertainment experience than you will with these expansive Full HD 3D televisions.", I'm sure I'm not the only one to misread it Big Smile

I had a look at the price list, one you can not misread - which goes to prove your point Big Smile

Indeed. Who knows the new system specs? Are there smaller screen sizes in the product line to follow?

Stop messing with my head! I read the subsection title at flatpanelshd as "Elefant giant" Laughing

And yes, this TV will require glasses for 3D viewing. I suppose you could use compatible ones from other suppliers, though...

In Norway the combo BV4-85/BS3/Beo6 retails for 402.000 NOK (approx 45.500 sterling). The floor stand is another 132.000 NOK (15.000 sterling), in addition you will need the BL10 plus mounting kit for the stand.

Well, honestly I do not know. I do not need such a large TV. Anyway, I am glad that BEO invests into state of the art technology. I would like to see BEO produces high end design and quality products for a very long time.

    Re: BeoVision 4-85"

The real news that concerns a lot of Beoworlders here is that the Beosystem 3 has been upgraded to process 3D signals... Is it still called Beosystem 3, or is that a new Beosystem 4?

And maybe there will be a 3D upgrade kit for existing TVs (if you don't care about being sick with active glasses)

    I agree.

Putting aside the fact that this particular announcement is outside some/most people's/my range in money and real estate, I had been thinking the same thing for several weeks, and I think this drop off is a reflection of a perceived lack of progress from B&O

I hope that this is just a perception, and that B&O are not undergoing a re-ogranisations of strategies and products under the new CEO

It's too big and brash and ugly for me. It's just far too dominant and heavy a design, particularly in the room that it's pictured in.

The triangle Beolab looks like a lame adaptation of the AV9000 and reeks of wannabe retro!

No - thumbs down for me...

I'd love to see the 3D glasses: are they also designed by B&O?

It would be terrible if the TV came with normal, 3rd party plastic glasses.Big Smile

You can actually see them in one of the pictures in the link to flatpanelshd provided earlier in this article. On the table..

I haven't seen a high-res picture of them yet but I'm very interested in this as well Big Smile

    Re: BeoVision 4-85"

3D will be available for the updated 7, but I find it rather interesting that the viewer panel in Struer found that the smallest screen size for 3D should be 85"... got something to with the rest of your view: looking at the rest of your decor / wall / etc through 3D-glasses is not comfortable, so the screen should cover most of your field of vision.

Beside the BV11, the next new BeoVision will most likely be the BV10-55. Not sure if this will feature 3D or if this is reserved for the 7. The 10-55 will be released later this year.

    Re: BeoVision 4-85"

The 3D glasses are ugly, big, heavy and boring : a standard chinese design... Loewe has gone the same way with its 3D glasses. It seems that high end manufacturers don't have enough money to make cool 3D glasses.

Actually, the best active 3D glasses I've tried are the new bluetooth from Samsung : very light, and as the batteries are behing the ear, you don't have a lot of weight on your nose. They have been designed by the well-know Silhouette brand. The cool thing : an optional inductive charger which is just a black cylinder (monolith) : you put the glasses on it, and it charges them automatically.

But the close future for 3D TV is passive technology, manufacturers starts to go this route. It's really more comfortable, try it on a LG set if you haven't already! Then, the best passive glasses are the LG by Alain Mikli (another well-known high end glasses designer) :

Here, the cool thing is that the "nose thing" can be retracted to put those glasses over normal glasses :

So... B&O is just way behind in terms of design...
