    BEO5 write timeout

Did you already have the "write timeout" message?

It's a new message for me, because I use the same software, the same Pc and the same cables...

    What to do???

    thanks

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

I will try to help you, but I need some more information:

    What version are your Tool?

Does this happen each time you download and you have liftet and repositioned your remote?

How big is your configuration? You can see some details when you are finalizing...

Are you using a Beo5 as suggested in subject or are you using a Beo6? The transfer method is different...

I agree, try to find the 4.11 version somewhere.

You configuration is not to big,  345 Kbytes is less than 2 Mega bytes.

It is important that your USB wire between the computer and the Beo5 is not to long. It is possible to get a very short adaptor from Normal USB to mini USB.

You can also try to use an USB hub between the computer and the Beo5. Some USB controllers are not working well with the Beo5.

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

Yes I agree. Since I have converted my B5 to B6 when I upload the software to the B6 it tells me that it is connected to a USB device but still updates the software. Also when I work on the software my WIFI goes and I need to restart if Iwant to use it.

What difference does a hub make? WHich USB Version is the Beo5/6? Is it 1.1?

    Best regards Oliver

I think the USB version is 1.1

A USB hub is a device that expands a single USB port into several so that there are more ports available to connect devices to a host system.

I know what a USB Hub is the question was what difference it makes to use it?

    Sorry for the misunderstanding...Embarrassed

From practice I have seen a computer with it's own USB connector not able to register with a Beo5, was able to do it when I used a Hub between them.

I guess that the Hub makes some kind of changes to voltage levels or timing.

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

okay, now I got you. Alright that is a good hint I will try that and feedback here, because I have the problem that the USB deregisters when I upload although upload works. Still I will try this because I should have an old HUB somewhere. Maybe it is an electrical issue.

    Best regards Oliver

If you have a Beo6, this will give you the "balloons" with error messages during the upload. The upload is handled differently from Beo5 and uses some kind of bootloader. The message appear when the Beo6 reboot after flashing.

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

yes prior to the figures counting up or respectivley down the USB has several error messages. But what does yor second sentence mean?

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

That, if you see the message 'USB Device Not Recogniced' in a balloon message (in the area at the clock) then it is normal.

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

yes that is what I see and you think a hub does not make a difference?

No, the Hub will not make a difference in this case. Only if you have initial problems with the connection.

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

Whenever I apply a config file to my Beo6 using Configuration Software 4.11 I receive the 'USB Device Not Recognised' message in the ballon whilst the Beo6 appears to power down and power back up as part of the 'configuration download' process. Whilst the configuration file appears to have been applied successfully on usage I find that several of the physical 'hard buttons' on the Beo6 don't respond - presumably due to the time out?  Is anyone else experiencing this difficulty or is there a way to avoid the issue?

I can apply the same configuration file to my Beo5 using the same config file, same config tool on the same PC without the 'USB Device Not Recognised' message.

Any help that could be provided here would be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks

    Graham

Hi Oliver, thanks for the swift response.  I have reapplied the file several times.  I never receive an error message in the configuration tool itself the configuration software appears to be applied successfully.  Unfortunatley I always see the 'USB device not regonised' bubble in Windows and find that the usage of the 'standby', 'fast forward' and other physical keys are not usable on the Beo6.

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

I have exactly the same but everything gets programmed  propperly. Is these standard commands created by the software or your own buttoms?

    Best regards Oliver

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

yes - these are the standard commands created by the software - they are the physical buttons on the device and the issue is consistent no matter what is selected.

    Re: BEO5 write timeout

that is the hardware then, and that you cannot be programed, the hardware will be broken, can you for example turn volume up and down with the turning wheel? that is the hardware as well.

    Best regards Oliver

Hi, yes the wheel works fine.  The issue is confined to the standby, fast forward, stop and right keys only.
