    BEOGRAM 4002 RUN TO FAST

    Hi all,

I've bought a second Beogram 4002 Type 5521 in almost MINT condition. Unfortunally the motor run to fast (over 10 seconds per minute). How can i calibrate the speed? All other functions are working good...

    Thanks!

Upgrade to silver or gold membership and download the service manual. Page 4-1 describes speed adjustment.

You will need a stroboscopic disc, available to buy or download on the internet.

Thanks for the quick and helpful answers.

    I've already the schematic...

My questions: Is this job easy to do for a non technican? Which strobo disc i have to use in Europe the 50 Hz? Will the strobo disc work with a Maglite Flashlight?

    Best Regards

I just use  a desk light plugged into the 50Hz mains. Works OK for me.

Turn the appropriate potentiometer until the speed is correct. Easy!

It is important that the lamp flickers at 50 (100hz) this means a standard tungsten filament lamp should be used. A traditional ballast flo tube would be ok but not modern electronically controlled stuff.

Jow, I use a normal lamp 60 Hz

Re: BEOGRAM 4002 RUN TO FAST

Update: It works and it was easy to adjust also for a non technican.

One question about the speed of the stroboscop-disc. There is a 33.33 (33 1/3) and a 45.11 (45). Why is it 45.11 and not exactly 45?

    Thanks for the advice.

Re: BEOGRAM 4002 RUN TO FAST

Because unfortunately the number of whole stripes for 45rpm are not a multiple of 50hz so this is the closest you get in the UK using this method.

Good enough for most and I wonder do / did record manufacturers make allowances for this?

    Olly.
