    It's a crime!

Went out to lunch with a guy today. He recently moved to a new palatial pad that has non b&o music plumbed in throughout. I asked him what he did with his Beocenter 2 he used to have in his kitchen.

"Oh the DVD played up so I put it in the bin"

I didn't have the heart to ask what happened to the two small beolabs sitting either side! I have a feeling the whole lot wentHuh?

    Re: It's a crime!

I know of another BeoWorld Member who stopped someone at a local tip and asked 'errr, mate, what are you doing with that?' - upon which was the reply of something like 'I can't get it to turn on, you can have it if you want it - it was part of a house clearance"..

The BeoSound 9000 6-CD Changer, after a quick clean, worked perfectly.

    I remember that!

I'm sure it's been done before but what other crimes or finds have others come across?

Really don't open such a discussion. The shock we are going to have will directly put us in a therapist!!!

I really cannot imagine such issues. It would just drive me completely mad!!!

Picked this up about a month ago from a customer who had it stored in a shed. The Beogram and Beomaster plus the MCP 5000 are all working and in use now. the Beogram even has a decent MMC5 on it.

The tape deck just needs a new set of belts. Didnt pay a dime for it.

    Re: It's a crime!

I used to be astonished by what I saw at my local tip, although no B&O as yet. Now a bunch of big fat reception types hang out on 12 hour shifts, tax free profits and unlimited dumping grounds so the chances of picking up anything good is next to zero now :(

    Re: It's a crime!

3 weeks ago I saw a MX6000 on the pavement of my street. I ran to it, just to discover that it had been put here on its screen, so there was a lot of (beautiful blue) antireflect glass around it, and the speaker cloth was standing beside it, looking damaged.

Well some are just parasytes and others are just plain insects. You have also the "chauvenist pig", the "black sheep", the "white fly", the "stupid cow", the "beautiful as a swan", the "graceful as a gazele", the "tall as a giraffe", "blind as a bat", "fat as a whale", "lazy as a panda", "loyal as a dog",  etc.

This happens all the time alas.

Years ago my grandfather threw out all his old camera equipment as he'd recently gotten a new video camcorder.  Thousands of pounds of Leica and Bolex equipment are now sitting in a landfill somewhere in Scotland
