BeoLab Penta1 Stupid Question from Newbie

Hi--I just got a pair of BeoLab Penta 1's complete with BeoCenter9000

Hooked up it reads on the speakers the CD output but no sound.

Other problem is I would like to use them as front speakers in HT system

Hooked up line out from Denon3802 receiver and plugged in the speakers

    again NO Sound.

---Third try decided to bypass the built in Amps and ran speaker wire

from the Internal banana plugs to HK2.1 signature amp---

    result No Sound.

What am I doing Wrong are these worth repairing????

Can I when repaired just use the Penta's in a Home Theatre setup

as mono block amps and just run a signal from the receiver????

Is this possible????----and will it sound good as the fronts in a Home

    theatre system?????

    ----Electronics Status-----beginner.

Pls help if you have the patience and time to answer what I realize

    probably aren't to bright questions.

    thanks

Under the amp section there should be a switch which you can switch dependant on the source (TV or audio).  Try that.  Do the amp power lights change from red/orange to green when they are switched on?

Am I ready? I was born ready!

    Thanks for all your help.

Right now I have them passively amped.

I ran speaker wires from the upper internal

banana plugs to my HK2.1 signature and I'm happy to report although no display

    they sound great.

Does this mean I can also get the displays

    working on a Denon Receiver?

    Thanks for all the info.

Even if they end up staying passively amped they are keepers.

I traded a DAC for them so I'm happy.

No, the displays will only work with a suitable B&O Beomaster or Beocenter amplifier.

    Thanks

    I also got a beocenter9000 and a

remote1000 with the package---the displays do work using that but as I want them for fronts in my HT/Stereo guess I will

    live without the displays.

    Question

The beocenter9000 cassette tape door won't open is there a manual override to

    get it open???

The CD load door works fine and also the

amp is fine as it plays CDs flawlessly.

Tape door isn't a big issue unless easy fix

as I don't need it to play tapes anyway.

I'm still stoked my trade was

Beresford 7520DAC in return I got

    BeoLab Penta Mrk1's

    BeoCenter9000

    BeoRemote1000

After hearing the Penta's I would make this

deal all day long----they are just gorgeous

no dings and one little pull in the grill cover

you can't find unless you know where it is.

My first experience with B&O and I guess

I'm on my way to being converted.

    Hi Lefty11

Its easy to like the Penta´s :D

If you dont want to use a Bang-amp (first choice with 4-pin special DIN as seen on pic above) then I would use Line INPUT from your pre-amp/line out connection on your amp. There will be no info on displays tho but personally I think that is the best way.

The Tape-door shouldnt be that hard to fix, should prob be hard and old "lubrication". Try search here on the forum coz I have seen some posts on similar problems on BC9000/9500/9300.

    Cheers

Out of interest what did you think of B&O before you did this deal??

    Olly.

Before I did the deal B&O wasn't even on

my radar!!!!! Was just kinda looking for

some good front speakers for music and

    home theatre about 50/50.

I can tell you even passively amped I'm

very happy with them in both venue's

We watched Inception tonight and the

    Penta's did it proud.

Also the WAF (wife approval factor) is very

high on these even though they're over

twenty years old. I never imagined I would

get away with big speakers in the front but

these seem to have a timeless style in

my opinion and obviously in the little ladies

    as well!!!!!

    Life is good!!!!

Check your mids! Most likely your mids suffer with foamrot if they aren't replaced!

All the penta's mk I, II and early III's will suffer with foamrot.

BTW: only the mkIII has a switch on the bottom to switch between an audiomaster or videomaster.

Actually, mkII has the switch as well.
