Active beosystem 1 users - count

Some time ago I got a used beosystem 1 but never got to set it up. Before I go ahead and invest time in setting it up, just Wanted to know, how many people are actually using it currently. And what do they think of it.

With not a single response Its fair now to assume that this unit from B&O is not being used by many at all. Now - I am not sure if I want to set this up my self.

Still using my Beosystem 1 with BV 4 (4+ years and no problems)

Have been using a Beosystem 1 w/ BV 4, since 2006.  Beosystem 3 came out shortly afterwards and to be honest I have had no problems, no complaints and no desire to change anything

I am planning to have s45-2 as front playing through a beomaster 4500. Rear with two rl 60.2 connected via A MCL2P - Question: 1. Can I control volumes on rear and front separately, if so how 2. With beosystem 1 being the av processor how do I control it remotely with beomaster 4500 also in the same room. 3. Any suggestions on setup I have 2 s45-2, two rl 60.2, one spare bl4000, and two spare bl2500 - Thanks, all help is appreciated

I currently use a BeoSystem 3 in the living room and a BeoSystem 1 in the den. The BeoSystem 1 has plenty of connections (once you add a Zektor expansion box) and plenty of PUC control. The big drawbacks you'll run into are the lack of HDMI and lack of 720p. The BeoSystem 1 only offers 480p and 1080i as HD. This limits you to the first gen Apple TV and not the second gen Apple TV. With the prices of second-hand BeoSound 1 being so low, it's certainly worth the bargain.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the system1 was only released in the States, and so not well known here in Europe. It has different connections (component in stead of scart).

So that could explane the number of reply's to your question.

You can't do that.  The option programming to pull that off isn't available for the 4500 or the BeoSystem 1 (Video or Audio Option 4).  They're going to need to be completely separate or linked together the way most audio/video products are linked together in the same room (4500 in what was option 0 ... System 1 in option 2).

I still use a System 1 in my living room with a 42" BeoVision 4.  Still works like a dream!

Still using a BeoSystem 1 myself. I have a bit of a living history exhibit going on. Only real complaint could be lack of HDMI, but almost everything is available with component. PQ on old BV4-50 is pretty competitive with everything else in the house.

Re: Active beosystem 1 users - count

I got the system 1 set-up only to realize that i need the powerlink mk2 cable to trigger my beolink passive for the front bevox rl 60.2 to work.

Now I am in the wait mode for the powerlink mk2 cable to arrive. Strangely though according to B&O technical support ( honestly, very helpful people) the powerlink mk3 (triangle) cable - which is also fully mounted should be good enough. But in my experience it deos not work - any thoughts on this?

    Thanks

The error is that a Mk.3 Powerlink cable is not fully connected - it is just like Mk.1, but with better shielding that is often needed for interference suppression with ICE powered speakers.

I think joeyboygolf once said that he'll cover himself in ashes if he ever has to repeat this again in any thread, so I'll save him and reiterate his sound advice: for a Beolink Passive, you need a fully connected Mk.2 cable - nothing else will work! Should be fine once you get the cable Smile

I'm using a beosystem 1 but only for audio switching.  I hook all of the hdmi inputs to the TV.  Sure i have an extra remote but that's not a concern to me.

Still using a BeoSystem 1 for I believe 3+ years now, with my BeoVision 4-50!  Run my DirecTV and PS3 through it at 1080i via a Zektor switch.  Main room setup includes BeoLab 1, BeoLab 6000, BeoVox Cona & BeoSound 9000!

What is the Zektor switch and which model do you use. I am not sure If I would need it. I am hoping to connect a 50" plasma for video via HDMI and process audio only through beosystem 1

I am planning to set up RL 60.2 through a beolink passive as front

    A pair of S45-2 through a MCL2P as rear

    Beolab 4000 as center

Wish to add a beovox cona - if i can find a used one

Sound Calibration - I noticed this in the beosystem 1 menu, please some one shed more light on this option and what does it do.

    Thanks for details
