Hi Søren , remember what type of car it was that you did the trade with?

Do you know if the BG1000 belongs to this BM900 and type M Højtaler

The speakers type M I think was for the 608 High Fidelity Stereo Amplifier, both are pre 1965.

The BM 900 was build 64 to 70, the BG 1000 65 to 73, the correct set would be BM, BG, BV 1000

I bought the BM 900, because it was cheaper than the BM 1000.

I used the set 1972 to buy a Morris mini 1964 model, I payed some DKR 1100.00 and the set.

I remember the BG 1000 as a very good build recordplayer, I moved it around a lot, used it for a lot of parties, one time I went on my motorbike some 110 KM in rain with the deck in a bag behind me on the bike, it got a little moist but played OK.

Very nice  set up Leslie. Not something you will find in my neighborhood. It would take a couple years to acquire all the pieces and then the cosmetic quality would most likely be marginal.

Sadly vintage B&O that predate the BM4000 is pretty rare in the US and when it does show up on auction I usually pass because the unit is pretty much trashed.

Re: What Are You Working On Now ?

Among other projects I have started the renovation on the room that holds my vintage stuff. Right now I am plastering the walls that will be behind my audio.

The whole project is based around a/v so I am very excited to get this rolling, been wanting to do this for a while!

One of my dream units - a BeoGram 4000, rescued from the skip. First time ever I've had one of these.

Really bad condition, non-working, cracked cover, etc - the writeup is in the Workbench forum - Beogram 4000 Restoration

As we have to answer the same questions, a lot of times I am starting a file with standard texts, and I can then point to the jpg file or just insert it in my reply, your welcome to use the same here or maybe someday the webmaster can use them in FAQ.

I'm also working on a list for semiconductors replacements, hard to find or no more available, that one will take some time to finish.

Re: What Are You Working On Now ?

Beovox S120's - becoming a real pain. So far I've had to resolder the voice coil connections on both the Bass & Mid range drivers of one speaker. The mid range dome voice coil had also become detached from the dome itself so it sounded very distorted - now sorted. Full recap on the crossover of this speaker & it is now working 100% & sounding really good. The cabinets are in a right state & I aren't any where near starting on that part of the project. I have a sneaky feeling the other speaker is probably going to need as much attention as the first regarding the drivers. A speculative buy which is now proving to be a poor choice but as I'm so far into them I now have to persevere. Not a lost cause though as I've learned a lot about these speaker types through this pair with some good pointers from Martin which will hold me in good stead.

Also working on a Beocenter 9000. Another real gem hidden in a pile of junk. Refitted the glass panels (thanks Graham (joeyboygolf) for the missing plastic frame) and restrung the CD door - definately NOT a job for the feint hearted. Now playing perfectly but I've a sneaky feeling the lithium battery has now expired so that will be on the "to do" list. Both of the belts for the CD/Tape panels have been replaced & working great. Picked this up as part of a job lot & wouldn't have give it too much hope except that the CD widget is still intact so I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt which I am now glad about.

Sorry for the lack of photo's, the Beocenter door restringing really needs a video to show how to do but I'll post some of the 2nd S120 when I get around to it.

    They look wonderful !

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Hi Olly, thing is that in Holland you can often get them for quite cheap! It's a good bargaining position that I have whenever the cloths has to be replaced, scratches and refoaming of the drivers.

Re: What Are You Working On Now ?

I sanded and repsprayed a set of CX50 which where awfull oversprayed in glossy black I could see they were white when they were new. Woofers had foam rot and and the grill cloth was loose and oversprayed as well. I am not complaining I got them for free.

I sanded them and spray them matt black and dusted them with metalic when they were still wet. Sunday I sprayed the distiguished line with clear coat.  B&O purist will say "Oh thats is not original"  But that metalic dust and the pin stripe make them more alive than only a matt black finish.

The woofers are refoamed and I am waiting for the speaker cloth from the US which I ordered 2 weeks ago. I will post some pics when it's finished.

Re: What Are You Working On Now ?

Absolutely gorgeous, great job! I keep an eye out for these but so far have only managed to score the one pair of CX50's in white. Grills are fine, but I had to refoam and need to do the stripes.

The bare aluminum looks great, did you spray it with clear coat or anything?
