Hi beoaus,
I think we need to clarify some points here before we can advise as I'm getting a bit confused as to what you are trying to do! Your initial post mentioned both the White & new Black ATV. So some more detail of what you have, what you are trying and what does & doesn't work for you may help.
1. Confirm you definitely have the Previous generation ATV - the white/silver & not the new tiny black one?
2. Do you have up to date software in both TV & ATV. Don't know about the TV software but do an update on the ATV.
3. Do you use Beo4 or Beo5?
4. I can't help with which PUC socket to use on your TV as I believe you have more than one, the BV5 has only one with a splitter. Others can advise I'm sure!
5. Does the Apple Remote control it as it should? (The ATV needs to be unpaired from the Apple Remote).
6. Not sure what choice of remotes you get in your menu on the TV but mine just says "apple remote". What are your choices?
7. Do not try to pair the PUC with the ATV. Do not use the ATV "learn Remote" function. The B&O IR blaster should work exactly as the Apple Remote and unpaired.
8. Can you currently control it at all with your B&O TV remote?
9. If you can, does the emitter control it only if directly over the reciever, or will it control it from a few cms away?
10. Is the emitter working? Do you have another to swap with to see if it is faulty. Looking at the actual IR emitter through a video camera/pone camera when activating it should show as a blinking light on the screen of the camera. (Just tested it & my Beo4 IR does not show up on the phone camera but the PUC IR emitter definitely blinks [B&O IR is not picked up as it's a different frequency to standard IR]).
Once the IR sender is working properly it won't matter where you place the ATV. I tested mine again this morning, the sun comes in and shines right onto the ATV and even then the emitter still worked from where it is. ( I have to close the blinds if I'm watching TV before 9.30)
The buttons to use on the Beo4 are the same as the ATV except you use EXIT on Beo4 and MENU on Apple Remote
