    MCL2P Mute

I have an MCL2P connected to a BeoCenter 2300 with a Mk 2 Powerlink cable.  When I mute the BeoCenter, the MCL2P does not mute.

To rule out a BeoCenter fault, I connected the MCL2P to my BeoCenter 9500 but the same thing happened.  Is the MCL2P faulty or does it simply not mute in this configuration?  (Does it only mute when used with an MCL2AV?)

    I'd appreciate help!

    Re: MCL2P Mute

There is no internal muting in the MCL2p,just power up/down,like in the Beolab 8000.The signal lines are muted within the Beocentre when changing source etc.I think it was only the Beolab Penta and Beolab 3500/4500/5000 that have internal muting.

I've used the MCL2p as a slave amplifier to drive speakers in a link room, and you can connect a MCL2a(Extra speaker kit)to the MCL2p,and then local muting is available within the relay box.Works very well.

It's a useful amp,and of course saught after.

    Regards,

    Nick

will also work as a slave off a beolink active box connected to the source by masterlink - then you can use the ir eye to control it!

    Re: MCL2P Mute

Many thanks both Nick and Tony.  I guess I won't be taking it to bits to fix anything then!  I'll probably keep using it as an amp for the 2300 until I can afford some active speakers - maybe Beolab 2500s.  I presume that a Beolink passive also doesn't mute - given that it's a modified MCL2P?

I suppose I could rig up an MCL2A but that seems a bit silly within a single room - guess I'll just live with the lack of a mute function.

    Thanks again for your help

    Regards Guy

    Re: MCL2P Mute

without checking does the passive have an ml sockety if it does then with an ir eye should be ok - i only have an mcl 2p and a couple of ml/mcl converters hence my use of an active to trigger the passives

    Re: MCL2P Mute

I don't have a Passive - just an MCL2P.  I was just wondering whether to start looking for a Passive.   Thanks anyway,

    Guy
