Questions - Beocenter 9000 -ebay but I already did!

I BuyItNow'd a Beocenter9000 w/Beolink1000 - all functions in good working order. Now I read of the special CD issues with this system, and am having thoughts.  I realize only I, myself, can answer should I, etc. but it's a beautiful iconic piece and looks great. I also worry about shipping. tho I see the seller ships lots of audio pieces and musical equipment.

Well just needed to vent, am a a little aprrehensive due to the cost and shipping concerns. not sure what they are worth but I figured the remote was worth $100 anyway, and since it's described as 'working well' the seller has good feedback and hopefully would make good on his description. I'm a longtime ebayer and understand most risks. I just haven't bought B&O items and paid $500, ugh. I love the piece tho and maybe breakthru parts will become available by some crafty person if needed down the road. thanks.

this seller sells quite a few B&O items, and had a BM4500 and BG4500CD on too but I think he cancelled it when I bought the 9000 very quickly after he posted both as BINs.. I think he feels he posted too low on the 4500set for $579US ??

    Good luck!

If it hasn't already been shipped to you I would ask the seller to tape down the two glass strips to the unit as they can become loose and break. I had trouble with a sliding door becoming dislodged during shipping but that was repairable however the glass strips are becoming increasingly rare these days.

If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.

Thanks, I was aware of the glass panels. Seller has given me an opt out if I want. Trying to decide if  want to spend $500USD at this time for this unit. Seller did tell me the cassette sounded kind of dull. I know these are a more high maintenance model. not sure what people are paying in the US for these. I don't see that many of the 9000-9300-9500 sets on ebay US. hmm. I do see many posters here consider the 9000 trashable becasue of the CD issues. Seller says it is all working, but.

I'm also looking at a BM6000 (80s), BG8000, S45, S75 speakers set from an orig local owner this weekend too.  maybe that will help me decide.

It's worth reading through THIS thread about the BC9000.

Thanks, yes, I've read almost every thread on this system. It has it's own special isues. I may be happier with more repairable separates. just trying to justify the cost. seller was very good at letting me decide if I want to do this ebay deal. Gotta decide this weekend.

As I'm just getting into buying older B&O so maybe I should start at a cheaper price point. but the 9xxx series are stunning all-in-one designs. and I rarely see them offered.

Re: Questions - Beocenter 9000 -ebay but I already did!

I bought a beocenter 9000 off ebay and it was decent.   Have not had any troubles with the cd player or tape... the only heartache I have had was with my beocenter 9500 which arrived with broken glass panels... replaceable from B&O or rather Pyramid Audio in Austin (http://www.pyramid-audio.com/).  It is worth getting a multimeter, soldering iron (if you do not already have them), and the service manual for these beocenters... very happy with them both.
Beocenter 9000 with Beovox CX100 and BeoLab Penta 1.
Beocenter 9500 with Beolab Penta 3.

The penta 1's were bought on ebay as well... the penta 3's came care of B&O of boston.

BeoCenter 9000 with Beovox CX100 was $445 (yes for both with shipping)
BeoCenter 9500 was $200 with shipping
BeoLab Penta 1 was $775 with shipping
BeoLab Penta 3 was $1000 with shipping

should really get a pair of Penta 2's and Beovox Penta to get the complete model line... but prolly will just settle for some other loudspeakers.
