Only if enough people report the items to Ebay.
The manuals are illegal to sell.
They are on CD-R which is illegal to sell on Ebay (unless blank).

    I've reported ten or so.
I suggest you do the same.

This is just so wrong. I think this issue should be highlighted more on the forum with a list of ebay sellers doing it to name and shame them (although given their obvious moral standards they probably wouldn't be shamed.....)

The main purpose of the list would be to enable Beoworlders to bombard ebay with complaints / reports about them and to be confident we were only targeting genuine offenders.

    Thoughts?

There was a seller who lives not far from me who sold pdf manuals from Beoworld at 4.99 a file. I reported him to eBay on numerous occasions and nothing at all was done. They really aren't  bothered despite their rules clearly stating it is not allowed. They only seem willing to respond to complaints from the copyright holders themselves.

Beoworld does not have the right to sell/distribute them more than these guys on eBay... If someone could complain, it is B&O and appearantly they do not mind. So fine.

It is against eBay rules to distribute copyright material on CDRs. You can of course sell the originals but they do not have them - I do! We are not selling manuals - we merely provide mine as a library open to silver and gold members - and I have the originals in most cases here. Some were given to me by B&O!

Same here Simon - I simply got fed up & frustrated reporting these with no response so I simply gave up.

Presuming this ebayer (Rick Hulme of Oxford, it would seem), is a Beoworld member, cant his Beoworld membership simply be revoked/cancelled..?

Not only is this a copyright issue that eBay seem not to be interested in........... there is nothing more annoying than to search eBay for vintage B&O and find that the majority of entries are these manuals!

From eBay's viewpoint, how are they to know whether B&O have given a licence to an individual or company to reproduce their old manuals? Unfortunately they are probably correct to only take action if the copyright holder complains. Maybe we need to get B&O to take a financial interest in reproducing its own old manuals on CD or DVD..... but presumably this would not be financially viable for them so they are happy for Beoworld to reproduce them for members. Why can't B&O give Beoworld an exclusive licence to the old manuals and then Beoworld could take action against these people and maybe offer its own manuals for sale to non members or one star members.

Graham, did you know that if you type "bang olufsen -manual" in the search box. It will omit all items with the word manual in the title, within that search. Used to this a few years back. When every other item was a pair of fake A8's.

Why don't we all buy some and claim our money back because we received illegal copies ?
Surely, a bunch a nice Paypal claims would stop this man.

Good point Craig. Although in my case I might still be inclined to do a double check in case I missed an item that came 'Complete with manual'!

You can set your search to automatically exclude certain sellers. For example by typing in 'Beomaster' on eBay UK search, it currently returns 54 results - most of them copied manuals. By excluding just two sellers it's produces 11 results  - all of them actual units (that come with or without manuals).

    To do this:

Advanced search - to the right of the normal search button in My Ebay or elsewhere

Enter 'Beomaster' or whatever you want to search for

Tick/check the box Save This Search To My Ebay

Go Down to Sellers and tick/check Only Show Items From

Change the drop down box to read Exclude and enter the sellers who's listings you don't want to see. In my case...

    audio-manuals4u,servicemanualsdoteu

    Separate them with a comma.

Click on Search at the bottom and it will show you the search results then a small box pops up asking if you want to save this search. Uncheck the Email box unless you want to be bombarded with emails and click on Save.

To find this search at a later date click on Advanced Search and it will be on the top right in the drop down box Favorite Searches
