Yesterday I rediscovered a long forgotten pair of CX100. Not used for years, but I remember they did not sound that bad.
But yesterday they did sound awful, really horrible. Was my memory wrong (i.e. do I just not like these speakers at all) or do they just need to be refurbished? So I have three questions for you all:
1. There is some foam rot, but not much at all, just a little really: is such a small amount of foam rot enough to cause such a dramatic sound deterioration? Will they sound really better if I replace the rings?
2. Are there any capacitors that typically need to be replaced as well in order to improve the sound? Is there a kit available somewhere?
3. In your view, are CX100 worth the refurbishment cost/efforts?
Thanks, js
