cleaning brushed metal on becenter 9000

Has anyone any advice on cleaning the brushed metal panels on a beocenter 9000? I would like to clean them up a bit but am not sure what to use or how to go about it.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    Hi,

For just quick cleaning of fingerprints and "smudges" i did use a standard windowcleaner on a dry cloth, as also mentioned in the manual under maintenance. Works very well. The advices in the link is more of a way with much dirt and scratches.

I personally used this advice on my BM5500 and i think it will be good for your 9000 since you have the same matte brushed metal as my 5500. This advice i got from the manual for BeoCenter 9000 so it would be ok.

    Cheers

Thanks for that. I'll try windowcleaner - is only smudges as you say. Should work werll on the glass, too.

I use window cleaner (NOT the cream variety) on all the refurbs I do. Brings them up a treat including the glass. Don't put too much on or it will run into the electronics!

I cannot recommend the suggested "wet and dry" treatment. The 9000 has a genuine "brushed" finish rather than the more matt effect on models such as the 5500 series and you will never be able to reproduce it.

If the smudges turs out to be sticky, you can try with a little toothpaste in connection with a cloth and window cleaner.

Thanks all for the advice. I used window cleaner - astonished at the ampount of dirt that came out from the little crevices in the brushed aluminium! And the streaks which resulted - it kept me occupied for a surprising amount of time, but now looks ace.

Christian, I'll try the toothpaste tip on the windows of my narrow boat - they'd had "Sold" signs stuck up with selotape and which left marks not removeable with white spirit or window cleaner. Toothpast, being a mild abrasive, just might do it!

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Toothpaste on glass is not a very good idea, tried in once on sunglasses with a bad result. But it works on hard (metal) surfaces both shiny, brushed and grinded.
