Re: Goodbye BeoSound 9000 ?

I totally agree - I feel that an upgraded BS9000 design, with greater functionality for digital playback, will still have pride of place. While CD-sales are going down, there are lots of CDs out there, and the BS9000 was the closest one got the a "vinyl-feel" in playback of CDs. It's a statement unit, just needs some new wheels.
New design??? what is wrong with the way it is now?
I agree with the technical Update

I read it as if he wanted the innards changed and a display incorporated to support that digital functionality = a new design

What it really needs is a 7th disc. I mean come on! It's 2010!!!

LOL, yeah, I'm reminded that the whole purpose of that thing was to have more of your music at the touch of a remote without having to get up and change the album.
Now, as you say, it's 2010, and what sort of products give us that functionality and convenience x 100? Yup, HDDs, computers and pocketable players.Oh, and to a smaller degree, the BS5 (B&O, please update that thing, for the love of all that's sacred!)

Re: Goodbye BeoSound 9000 ?
I'm quite happy with my BeoSound 5 (I'm speaking personally, not as a commentary on those I've sold), but I don't really interact that actively from my link rooms. I know that some would prefer it to function like a Sonos with granular global control, but I just don't see that as a widely adopted user pattern worth fretting over.

By "new wheels" I meant, in line with the discussion in the thread, that it would be nice with BD/DVD functionality, with the ability to connect to a harddisk with other source material, etc -- there's nothing preventing B&O from turning this into a statement Universal Media Player, without changing anything about the looks.
I'd be delivering my pre-order this minute if I knew that was in the works.

I agree. it would be nice with some new features, such as two-way remote control of a harddisk or something like that

Agree!
And the maximum volume level could go to 100 as well, not only 80!

The sheep could still be right. It's hardly going to be confirmed by a sales team before it's been anounced, is it?

There was not much interest in this:
http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/33779.aspx
But it seems to work.
I guess it would've created more interest if it had actually described a solution...
Yes, sure. Agree....
