    HDMI Matrix

Has anybody got some details on the proposed HDMI matrix solution that I have heard about.

I would think it would use a gefen unit as this used for the HDMI switcher -is it only compatible with certain TV's or will there be a software update to enable all the latest tv's to take advantage.

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Hello?

    Any feedback on the system?

I'm building the plan of my future house and would like to know what is needed, espcially in terms of wiring.

    Have a great sunday!

    Each "Central HD-Source" e.g. Video-Server, SAT-Receiver, ....

requires a pair of CAT7 Cables from each "Client TV" to "Central Tech-Area"

    For example: 3 "Central Sources"  >> 6 CAT7 to TV "Livingroom" ;  6 CAT7 to TV "Bedroom" ; 6 CAT7 to ...

I know it would cat 5,6 or 7 cables etc as this is what the \HDMI baluns currently use,

there is a HDMI over IP solution available but it's early days yet with this tech & we know that B&o move at a snails pace.Surprise

I am more interested in the general specs i.e. what are the supported models, will they all require a update to enable, what about digital audio will this be in addition to ML audio i.e. could a Apple TV/mac mini  be used for full resolution audio distribution to say another system while the ML is being currently used.

I think it will use a Gefen HDMI matrix that will connect to the video master, but will they go the whole hog and enable a a master to control a slave  so i.e. a true matrix.

Only time will tell unless others spill the beans first.Wink

    Re: HDMI Matrix

No thats not right !  not so many CAT7

Matrix "brand" is not gefen it's ATLONA

    Ex 1.

If you have the matrix ( ATLONA) in let's say livingroom were videomaster and sources is

you need hdmi conection from each source to matrix and then 2 Cat 6/7 to each linkroom from matrix, depending on matrix model

you can have 3 or 7 linkroom (1 output connected to videomaster (HDMI)) and 4 or 8 sources and Puc cable to videomaster

    Ex 2.

If you have technical room were the source and matrix placed you have HDMI between sources and matrix and CAT 7 X2 to each

linkroom and videomaster and also Puc cable from videomaster to matrix

In all linkroom you need CAT7 converter to HDMI (in Ex 2. also to videomaster if to long for HDMI)

    Re: HDMI Matrix

Interesting. Thanks for the hint. I never heard of Atlona before. So I guess you need two CAT5 and Masterlink (CAT7?) to every link room.

Makes sense.Do you know more about the HDMI matrix? Price? Which Beovisions aresupported?

I`m thinking of this product: http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-4x4-HDMI-Matrix-Switcher-over-Cat5-Cat6.html

    Stefan

    8x8 ~ 5-6 k EUR

TVs with menue - activate function - "HDMI Matrix" - like BV 10-40/46, BV 7-40/55, ...

for larger setups / distances up to ~ 50m rather this one ...

    Re: HDMI Matrix

    Hi,

Yes you need 2 cat5/7 for HDMI and 1 Cat 7 for ML

Beovision supported are at this moment beosystem 3 based (BV7-40MKIII and later,BV4 with Bsys3,BV9) bv8,Bv10

    Software uppdate maybe needed

the models of Atlona that are in Puc support now is AT-ProHD44,48,88 maybe other model work depend on ir commands

price depends on country, but you get a hint in at atlona.com 2500eur on the model you have looked at.

    Re: HDMI Matrix

Well we have had the 8x8 matrix for a couple of days now and wow it works beautifully with our feature activated BVIS 10 46 and 40s.

To work it smoothly you will need a Beo5 and to activate your TV to work the Matrix you will have to pay a license to B&O.

Having worked with other HDMI matrix solutions, this is the smoothest and most easily configured oiption out there!

Well done Struer we are onto a sure fire winner here!

Is this is a one off fee?  Is it per TV?  How much do they charge?

    Re: HDMI Matrix

The fee is per TV each shop will vary in price, I suppose depending on the particulars of the sale/installation.
